It's sad when you look to UB for pointers on how to put together a good student section.

O-Zone R.I.P.

Was a total and utter embarrassment the 5 or so games I was at this year.

I'm not even sure current students come on bobcatattack any more.

Do they even know this place exists?

Better questions, do they even know we have a basketball team?

Kudos to Buffalo for their attempts. But, you don't see many wide shots of that group because its normally very tiny....

Tight shots are better than no shots - kind of like weeknight football. The home team prays neither team has to punt.

Did anyone see the Warriors at Spurs game last night? There were about a third of the seats empty within normal camera view.

This is not just an Ohio or MAC thing.

Case in point: read earlier today that the NCAA women's tournament is taking a large hit in attendance. Something like averages around 4,000 for regional sites (excluding Stoors, CN, with UCONN playing).

When you see empty lowers at a sold out NBA game, the ticket re-sellers were probably asking too much on Stub Hub, etc. If they were asking a reasonable amount, they wouldn't have ended up stuck with prime seats sitting empty and a loss of face value or whatever they paid. Greed has it's risks.

I hope so, because if enough old men anonymously berate the students who actually attend games, they're sure to get really inspired.

Appreciate the thought and any investment you had in building it but I have always got a bit of a chuckle out of guys on a message board who are "embarrassed" by an athlete, a student group, a school or any of the other things that bother them.

I would be embarrassed if my kid had done something that I am ashamed of...which is kind of my question here..... are you ashamed of our Ozone? If so, what emotionally ties you so deeply that your life is affected this intensely? Really asking more because I am interested in the phenomenon of embarrassment that seems to have crept into fandom. I kind of want to understand the basis of embarrassment and then the need to come on a site and proclaim it.

what's age got to do with it? If a 22 year old is embarrassed or a 79 year old is embarrassed what is the difference. Why can't you just criticize the action and the criticism? why does everything have to be made into age, color, gender?

when people quit trying to use their demographic as a reason for being butt hurt maybe we can actually get at the problem.

A 22 year old being embarrassed by his peers is one thing. A 79 year old being embarrassed by a bunch of 18-22/23 year old's for not being as loud as he wants is much different. And I say that as a guy who used to paint his face for every game.

I'm somewhere in the middle but it makes no difference to me .... being embarrassed by an athlete, student group, University or whatever. It is not about the age group it is about being on a message board and taking a side based on a demographic in your case. My view remains focused on who has the balls to call out the act. You're worried erroneously IMHO about the demographic... you can go on FB with others and talk about "Grumpy old men being embarrassed"when the actuality of it is you should be talking about "the lunacy of someone going on a message board proclaiming to be embarrassed" I am on plenty of boards where college freshman are decrying their athletes and coaches claiming to be "embarrassed". Your "old men" creates a bias by "young men" that is not the problem. People behind a keyboard being embarrassed and feeling the need to let everyone know is the very interesting phemomenon. The non Ozone folks and the Ozone is the demarcation here. There are a lot of guys out there that bled green and painted their face and have some investment in the group. Seems passing on a tradition of excellence and working together would be a better solution. Like Rhodes as a coach spending time with the group. Or Old zoners jumping in and feeling welcome when the students are gone "holding it down" like the Alumni band does at Vball.

But hey ....if you want to feed the fire by calling the old men out and creating divides that are not really there....have at it.

The O-Zone has slipped in quality big time. No offense, I've seen high schools put on clinics on how to be. Was at the state tournament last week and anyone who saw Moeller's student section there would have thought a Who concert happened based on how crazy they were. The cheers were in unison, creative, and just plain funny.
