Think we'll learn if Tony Campbell can come back, slight chance that it is, before the start of the upcoming season?

You would think Tony would like to know so he can make plans for an overseas' contract if he's not given an extra season by the NCAA.

If he were to return I would feel less nervous about the season but even if he doesn't return, we still have a very solid core with Dartis, Block, Taylor, Carter and Laster along with an athletic vet in Mickle, a returned Gollon and who knows, maybe 4 significant frosh. I think either way we are going to be exciting and nerve racking to watch at the same time!

I would have thought we'd have a decision by now. I'm even less optimistic as time passes...

Remember, this is the NCAA, where students come first.

A couple interesting tweets from him the last few days. I'm not sure what they are in relation to, but if it's basketball, he seems to be happy about whatever it is.

This sarcasm is very much indicative of my feelings on these situations. It's not rocket science to make determinations on these appeals and requests.

I thought I read somewhere that the NCAA puts these kinds of decisions in the hands of the conferences.

No one should think there is any chance he gets another year.

Maybe he should announce he's transferring to a B1G school then after the waiver is granted rescind the transfer.

Has anyone seen Mr. Campbell in recent days? Is he back on his own two feet, or how is that whole foot situation doing?

I see a number of undrafted guys are signing with various teams over the last few days, but I have still yet to see anything about Campbell's status as to whether he's coming back or leaving. Personally I hope Campbell starts his professional career. He won the conference's top award (MAC POY) as a junior and has nothing to prove in college at this point. I'd hate to see him return if given the opportunity and suffer another injury that could derail his pro career. He tested the waters between his junior and senior year and clearly has hopes of playing pro ball. It's his time to start making some nice bank and get out of Southeast Ohio. He has a great opportunity ahead of him.

The flip side of that is that he could return, have a monster year, and end up drafted in the NBA. It's unlikely, I know, but it could happen. One also might argue that he has some things to prove in college. Just for starters, he could win the league, and win some games in the NCAA Tournament.

He may also re-injure his foot and never play again.

If that's the case then why did he come back after his junior year?

Or he could get a regular job with a degree like 99.999% of people do.

Arkley says Tone denied. I expected it but find the NCAA disgusting yet again. They allow corruption like Cal and Pitino to keep coaching but a good kid who had done everything right is denied.

It's not up to the NCAA to keep Cal and Pitino in or out of coaching. It's a false equivalency to compare them to Tony's situation. Didn't expect it either... he played three MAC games. I don't know of any precedent that gives him any leverage. I'll be interested to see if they sit on the extra scholly or keep an eye out for a transfer to sit.

That extra scholly is interesting. I wish that the NCAA would have given him and extra year.

Maybe we should have played a few games in a post season tourney to help the big fella's odds by getting his % of games played a little lower! Ugh, I'm still not over that decision.

For what it's worth, Saul said he'd sit on the scholarship for this year if Tony were to be denied.
