I'll say this: for any Ohio Bobcat fan who said Coach Groce is dead to them, well Jaaron Simmons should be too.

"Michigan basketball reportedly adds promising PG transfer Jaaron Simmons from Ohio"

It appears as if John Beilein and Michigan have found an experienced player to fill their final scholarship spot for the 2017-18 season.

According to the Athens Messenger and The Post, Ohio University point guard Jaaron Simmons will transfer to Michigan for his final college season. As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately.

Simmons averaged 15.7 points per game for the Bobcats over the past two years while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 37.3 percent from 3-point range.

Michigan will be Simmons’ third school, as he spent the 2013-14 season at Houston before transferring to Ohio.

Last month, Simmons announced he was declaring for the NBA Draft, but he did not hire an agent, allowing him to return to school.

Smith will help the Wolverines fill the void left by departed point guard Derrick Walton Jr.

I wish him nothing but more turnovers and many losses! Heck I will root for Ohio State against them and I NEVER root for Ohio State!

Ridiculous....the whole thing. Much I want to say, but I'll try to stay above it. So much for loyalty. My last memory of Jaaron will forever be of him dribbling out the clock against Kent State in 2017 MAC Semis. A new era of OHIO hoops begins today. We have two true freshman point guards heading into 2017-2018 season and please don't tell me James Gollon is the answer at PG. Feeling sick to my stomach. #Bye2 #DontLetTheDoorHitYou

Great for Jaaron, hopefully it launches his career into a new stratosphere.

Sad day for Bobcats, unfortunately.

You pretty much nailed my sentiments to a T.

Mr. Kirk, Mr. Butler, there's a lot of minutes available.

We'll be just fine without anyone who doesn't want to be here.

Our prior 2 coaches used us as a stepping stone (Groce, Christian) and fell flat on their respective faces. I guess it's only natural to think that our players would do the same thing. Good riddance.

The last two years we had true freshmen running the point. 2005 and 2010. Next man up.

Anyone know if scUM will still have a spot for Alstork from Wright St? Or did Jaaron take his spot?

Next man up. He did what he thought was best for him. That's the way it usually is.

This is brutal. First of all as a fan, of course it totally sucks because I love watching Jaaron. Then I feel really bad for Saul, his staff, and the players. It hurts.

Jaaron is taking a bigtime risk here, so I've got to respect that go-getter mentality. I disagree with his choice but he's really putting himself out there and trying to do what's best for him and his career.

To answer this one, they are waiting on what shakes out with Bamba (5* recruit who is more than likely going to Kentucky or Texas) and then seeing what happens with Wagner and Wilson. Once those dominoes fall, then Michigan can make its move. Again from what I heard (and I know you all laughed at me initially) is that Alstork was originally the higher valued until Simmons declared. Once he declared, Donlan's argument for Alstork went down a notch or two. So with that, we'll see what happens.

I whish him all the besht in hish future endeavorsh (itsh hard to talk witsh my tongue in my scheek).

Makes me appreciate DJ more. Bruce Pearl tried to recruit him after seeing him in the 2010 NCAA tourney, but DJ stayed at Ohio.

Are all the transfers because of problems with Saul, low expectations for next year's squad or just one of those things?

Looks like 4 years without a MAC title, going after Solich's record. Now 2018-19 could be different.

If Simmons had a problem with Saul (who gave him free reign) then he is in fir a rude awakening at Michigan.

And people who laugh at my sources ought to go drink Flint water but I don't say that one aloud, especially when a lot of you ridiculed me for even thinking that was going to happen considering my sources and background.

The only thing better would have been if he had transferred to Illinois or Boston College. This kid will have played for 3 different D1 programs in 4 years of college basketball. What a joke.

DJ never would have left Groce. I'm telling you, his fire makes kids want to stay with him.

It's easy for us to be angry and hold it against Simmons, but it's the same decision a lot of guys in his case would have made (and many do).

It will be interesting to see what Ohio does with another open scholarship. With four freshmen in the recruiting class already and only one returning senior (Laster) plus one grad transfer senior (Mickle), it would make sense to hold on to the scholarship or use it on another grad transfer unless the Bobcats can get a really good freshman recruit or regular transfer.

Remember Dartis came in as a pf/sg. I expect him to start at point and Lasiter to start at sg. One of the freshmen will come off the bench and allow Dartis to also get time on the wing.
