Interesting hire. Bearcats name former player/State Champ and Ball State star HC.

Of Course the Dunk vs UNLV makes the evening news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGFjCBzM5qk Saw him jump over cars at Soul Bowl and Gus Mackers to win several dunk championships. Played Overseas for a decade and change. Will be coaching kids of Bonzi Wells, Victor Young and other former Muncie and Balls Players.

Always enjoy seeing former players giving back to the game.

Is Muncie Central a public or private school?

Public.

Despite Ms DeVos presence in our state extolling the virtues of vouchers Central has been public....we have no privates in the entire county. One lab school, Burris, which has been the lab school for Ball State Teachers College for almost a century.

Yortown, Delta have both sent Vball players to Ohio and both have sent Ball State hoops players
Central, Wapehami, Cowan, Daleville, Wes Del. All school there at publics

All schools here are public as are contiguous counties Jay, Randolph, Blackford, Henry, Grant. No privates in the area.

More on Coach. Like many here including Tommy.... Those Bearcats always have a for in Central Athletics www.thestarpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2017/05/24/... /

It's fascinating to me that there are no private schools in your area. Even in the western corner of Ohio where I'm from in the 419, there is LCC, Lima Temple Christian, and Sidney Lehman. (and I'm probably missing a couple)

No kidding. We have 26 public high schools and 45 private high schools in our county alone. We probably have 10 times the population but still it is surprising that there isn't a single one.

You know how us unwashed masses in the "fly over states" are.... uneducated backwoods hicks that don't know enough to be deserving enough to vote. I suspect the closest private to Athens may be Lancaster? I can't remember many down that way from my OHSAA journals.

Unwashed masses...good chuckle there. I just figured in Muncie and the surrounding counties there would be a couple Catholic schools or Christian Academies.

Hah, there are probably more unwashed masses within 15 minutes of me than in all of Muncie. And speaking of "fly over states", not to hijack this thread but, we will be driving through Muncie (and Athens) in August on the way to drop my oldest off to start his freshman year at Illinois Tech. Sad to say my kids have never seen Athens. My youngest and I like to see if we can get in as many basketball arenas as we can. Any advice on how we can get in to see the Convo and Worthen when we are there? Most of the smaller schools (Carnegie Mellon, Case Western, RPI) are easy to get in and see but we've run into some roadblocks at larger schools on occasion.

The Convo is always easy. Hit Tommy on Twitter...he may even get a ball out or show you around the nickel tour. Worthen is not too hard either. If you give me notice I will go over with you and see if Coach Whit is around. If you are on I 70 I would strongly suggest the Indiana Basketall Hall of Fame (and go next door to World's Largest HS Gym)...ask for the Director Chris May if you are there and let him know I sent you ...young guy that is utterly enjoying the job ...daily meeting guys like Jabbar, Michael Warren, Walton....just saw him with a pic of Calbert Cheaney visiting the hall ....and then go the next exit and shoot in the Knightstown gym Home of the Fictional Hickory Huskers. https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiergym /

I am not sure where you are headed...IIT? If you are headed up 65 toward Chi you can stop in West Lafayette and see the "Convo Jr " at Purdue and see how they put and hanging scoreboard in there. Not so sure about getting into UD Arena during the day. Sounds like a good trip,,,,give me some notice and I will see how we can augment the trip with some hoops history. Sounds like Fun....and a way to make a little bit of a bittersweet trip a bit more memorable

That sounds great. I haven't planned out everything yet. My wife and two other sons who aren't really into basketball will be with us so not sure we can go full Monty on basketball. But would love to squeeze in as much as possible. Appreciate it.
