From today's Messenger. Injuries mounting up. BVP broken foot. AJG shoulder. Both will miss extended period. BVP back mid nov maybe. Dartis with a hip, will be eased back into practice this week hopefully.

Kirk edging ahead in PG race. Butler missing time with nagging injuries. There may be times when Block brings ball up court.

"Secret" scrimmage at Wright St. on the 28th.

Just read that too. Little worrisome.

Hope the BBall team doesn't get the injury curse that seems to plague the Fball team so frequently.

It's interesting to me to see if Dozier will get meaningful rotation minutes or if we will only play three post players while AJ and Ben recover.

Mid-November would put him back one either side of the tourney in SC. Hopefully he can make it back before to get some run against some good teams.

Looking forward to seeing Kirk run the show.

Hope they don't rush BVP back. Don't want to see his foot become a chronic issue.

I second that. As excited as Saul is about him, I'm more concerned about him being 100% healthy and ready when conference play starts.

Just like last year, for the sake of depth, I'm hopeful he can simply get in the game and rebound/defend. Last year he didn't look ready in limited time. I hope another year changes that. Gonna need him to give a little bit of time (fouls) for the Charleston trip to be successful if they don't have BVP and AJ healthy.

I hope the injury bug doesn't become an issue again. It's tough when there are 2-3 scholarship players struggling to stay healthy.

Not even November 1st....and the first EDoz reference. Will believe it when I see it. Don't play BVP until he's ready..absolutely ready. Need him in January/February/March...not November.

Agree on BVP. Let's give EDoz a chance before we assume it's a repeat of last year. You've gotta admit, right now the depth is needed.

Depth is an issue...no doubt about it. But I guess knowing we only go to Dance if we win MAC Tourney, I don't worry too much about it in November. This team will go through a ton of growing pains between now and February 1st. Let's get the boys healthy and ready for last two months of season.

FearLeon, I'm with you on all of the above. I'd give everyone a shot at PT for the first two games of the year (incl exhibition), and tighten up the rotation from there.

Kevin Mickle was always going to get a lot of post minutes. Jon Smith 2.0

I believe Block played the 4 at times last year spelling Kaminski. I wouldn't be surprised to see us primarily use Carter/Taylor at Center with Mickle getting the bulk of the minutes at the 4 and us playing smaller with Block at the 4 when Mickle isn't in early in the year.

For the early part of the season, I'm comfortable with that rotation. I do hope Dozier, BVP and AJG can get some minutes in during the OOC part of the schedule so they have experience when MAC play rolls around.

Half joking here: What's Sonny Sano doing now that he doesn't work with the football program?

With BVP and Gareri missing extended periods of time I'm wondering if the loss of Jaaron might play into the decision to redshirt either of them.

Someone else mentioned this and I don't see how we can. We already have an open scholarship this year. These guys need at least some PT this year, rather than waiting another year. Unless SP really thinks this will be a rough year and losing a lot of games in inevitable.

The question becomes, at what point in the year is it worth trying to bring them back once they're healthy? At some point, it might not be worth it to the player to burn the year of eligibility.
