I like our team the way it is this year. I think if we added Whitman it would take away from the development of posts Doug, Carter and AJ. We have Mickle coming in to hopefully give us energy and some mentoring. We have our wings with Block and Vander Plas. Whitman was said to have wanted to be a stretch 4 but a 1 year rental of him would not be in our best future interests.
I actually love this team in the MAC. Butler and Kirk will get a ton of PT early in the schedule against solid teams in Charleston as well as Iona and Western Kentucky. I think Gareri or Vander Plas are going to get some PT and Mickle is going to be great with his athleticism. Toss in the further maturation of Laster, Block, Dartis and Doug along with Gollon and this team could be sneaky good like Christian's second team.
