Pretty cool

My pops coached there in the early 60s. Got his union card as a brickmason when he was 16....after he graduated college and then the job at Wayne they were building the new High School so he ended up working the summer, building the school he would teach and coach in ..

Congrats Kevin. Talent rich area.

I'd argue that's a top end job in the state at the moment. Trice left that program with a lot of good parts and that team has been loaded the last few years. Definitely an opportunity where if he wanted to go back to Division I as an assistant in a few years he could do it from that job.

One of the best of the best -- He will do a great
job there and hopefully he will send some of his kids down to be bobcats

Pretty cool. One of the kids I used to coach in travel league baseball in Fairborn now goes to Wayne and plays football and basketball. Will give me a good reason to go catch a couple Wayne games this winter.

Agreed. With the talent that comes through Huber Heights he will likely be rubbing shoulders with the upper crust of D1 regularly during his time there.

Wow, he bails after 6 weeks. Why did he even take the job? A high school coaching position does not pay that well. Huber Heights was not even a stepping stone, more like a pause before stepping onto a lucrative bridge.

Never easy to find a coach or teacher in August, one of my least favorite things as a school administrator. Yes, there are tons of people who want the job, but it isn't easy to explain to the kids that someone left them for perceived greener pastures before the season and school year even began.

According to HoopDirt, he will be Director of Basketball Operations at Davidson: https://hoopdirt.com/davidson-dirt/

Seems like there has to be more to the story. DOBO at Davidson doesn't seem like the next logical step for a guy who had previously been a UD assistant.

Maybe it really was a musical chairs thing and he got stuck a bit, but just seems too odd at face value.

There is a lot of unseen to the coaching carousel. Hurts that he has a great basketball mind and relates well to the kids but he is not a minority. Sometimes there are spots open but there are other factors at work. Sometimes you take what you can get. I would have loved to see what he could do at Wayne but I suspect his intensity and expectations of individual athletes may have put parents of "the next LeBron" off.

This is a great opportunity with a great coach that has potential to become something more at a school that is a great fit for him and the fam... I like it. Let's not forget that one of the finest technique coaches I have ever known, Brian Townsend, was very happy at the ops spot at Michigan and has since moved to a more adminstrative role with the athletes there.

It makes sense to me. After TOS left, he went to Butler in same role and was Video Coordinator at OSU prior to Dayton. I heard some things had fallen through on the college side so he took Wayne job. So when this opened up, it made sense that he would be interested. Don't think it had anything to do with Wayne. He married a Dayton attorney and they recently had their first child so I thought there was a chance he was looking to get off college coaching carousel.
