I enjoy when there are doubleheaders, as I don't specifically drive down to Athens to watch the women's team. #4 Johnson & #5 Stover look like they may become very good players for Ohio, so I think the future remains quite bright even though great talent was graduated. I would expect them to contribute early on.

Since it was a great weather day, I decided to drive down early and walk the campus a bit. Athens is about as beautiful as a campus could get about this time of year. Got to walk around New South, and check out some of the dorms I lived in, as I think they're slated for removal relatively soon. And I also found out there are 'new' apartment buildings all over by Lakeview/Riverpark area, no idea how long they've been there. A lot less green space over there now for certain though.

It was nice to see the freshman group play... For probably about 10 minutes. He started 5 freshmen. But it became evident no matter how gassed the freshmen were, he wasn't pulling them. I think only 1 upperclassman played. And I think some players maybe never subbed out the entire game, or only once if they were. Not sure if there was some discipline going on or what.

If I knew Boldon was going to tank and play 95% of minutes by first year players, I may have kept up my campus tour for a couple hours longer. Disappointing, and painful for all in attendance to watch.

Arkley said they played another scrimmage earlier in the day that more closely utilized the upperclassmen rotation. You may not like what you saw, but Bob being Bob, doesn't care about what you think or any conventions for that matter.

Yep, you're correct, he didn't ask my opinion ;-)

That's interesting info, explains the lack of rotation at least.

The earlier scrimmage included Agler, Barker, Burke, and Doseck, all will be getting major minutes this year, and some of them will start. As noted, Boldon played the 5 freshmen most of the game. Won't be surprised if they all get playing time this year. They're all talented but got burned out in the second half. Hicks, Stover, and Burris played 38, 37, and 34 minutes respectively, which may tell you something.

A loaded team that's a work in progress will make for an interesting season.

Odd that he would play the freshman for the paying crowd and the veterans in the other scrimmage. I would think he would have done it the other way around. Was the other scrimmage against a D1 team?
