May try to periscope . Ride on the Kawasaki this morning was a little cool to start at 34 but at circleville broke 50 and the approach to Athens with colour on the hills was glorious. Women's game 78 57 presently. Men stretching and warming up. @freebird624 of I can get it up and running
Watched most of the half on your Periscope. Thanks for broadcasting!

Back after half. Brats are a bit pricey but pretty good,

Wasn't sure anyone was watching. Moving over to Mike Drake's seats for 2nd half

Looks like neither Freshman PG is starting.
But based on what I saw today both Kirk and Mickle will be starting very soon.

I agree. I don't think Doug played poorly, and he did rebound well, but Mickle just looked explosive. Much more active on both ends than I anticipated.

And for PG Kirk has to be the guy. We had some turnover issues in the first half when no one knew who the PG was. Just plug in Kirk and let him go. He'll take some Freshman lumps, but that's okay.

We have a bunch of 2 guards - Dartis, Block, Gollon, Butler. Again, that was based on one look today and today only.

Mickle for Taylor and Kirk for Block. Those two then become the first guys off the bench.

According to a friend mine who was on the faculty committee that helped implement the ESPN3 contract, we are prohibited from producing any webcasts that are not incorporated into the ESPN3 package.

I really like what Block brings as a starter. He seems unflappable. Good for Kirk to ease into game off the bench.

That video is only a small sampling and it is against Capital but..
1. Love the passing. No more dribbling by 1 guy for 20 secs
2. Jason C looks confident from distance
3. Mickle looks like a nice passer in post
4. Laster is going to break out to become a double digit scorer
5. We may not win Charleston or beat teams like Western Kentucky early on but March will be OUr time.

The ingredients are there for a good team. Had stretches of very good play yesterday, along with some ragged stretches. I think that will smooth out as the early season progresses . Great to have Kevin Mickle, especially with the two freshmen bigs recovering from surgery.

Those two impressed me with athleticism and explosiveness. Carter and Taylor caught my eyes with their noticeable improved physical condition.

I look at this two ways: the way you're joking about it, or that Saul, as in every year previously, sticks with a small rotation. Perhaps too small for the exhibition.

I think this gives us a good indicator as to where EDoz is with Saul right now. I get it's only an exhibition, but very telling that he barely got off the bench against Capital.

It's good to be back to clean, classic uniforms thst don't look like they're on a Steve and Barry's clearance rack.

A couple of observations/predictions from watching 20 minutes of yesterday's scrimmage: Kirk will be Ohio's best offensive rebounding point guard since Dink Whitaker; and no other MAC team will top yesterday's attendance of 7,000-plus fans, with the possible exception of Toledo.

DJ got more rebounds (153 offensive - 468 defensive) than Kirk will (bet you a beer) and it was Dads Weekend. On that topic, I wish we would go back to Dads Weekend in the winter. There were times when the crowd was 11K and electric. Couldn't find the breakdown for Dink on rebounds.

Yeah, doesn't matter though. Other schools are allowed to have Dad's weekend too, and their attendance won't come close, especially for an exhibition game. Great crowd yesterday.

Mickle & Kirk seem to fit right in, and I was impressed with the bounce they had. Really playing up around/above the rim.

Unless the injuries heal quickly for the two newcomers, I think we're in a 9 man rotation max. Can't help but think that will be problematic at some point during the season. Any more injuries/foul trouble and we'll be in some trouble.

I was excited to see who may be our main PG after Simmons' defection, and don't know if I saw a surefire replacement. But it may not be a bad thing(yet). I think every player on the court with the exception of Doug brought the ball up.

Carter, Taylor, and Laster seemed to look much different than last year in a good way. Carter/Taylor very trim & strong looking. Laster seemed bigger/stronger than I remember.

It's tough to get a feel on the team vs Capital, but based on the small sample, I like the new guys Butler/Kirk/Mickle. Want to see more out of Butler & Gollon still.

And welcome back Gollon!

With 153 offensive rebounds in 143 career games, DJ averaged a little over one per game. I'll take that bet for a beer that Kirk will average more than 1.1.

And yes, my first Dads Weekend as an Ohio University student's dad.

It's an exhibition. Lets not get our undies ruffled over the webcast or radio. You wanna see it? Get to the Convo. Otherwise wait for others' opinions of the contest. Simple as that.
Why act like this game doesn't matter?

You charge admittance for tickets?

You have paid university employees working the event?

You have no football game to work around?

A great chance to promote the start of the season... more exposure to the team.

Seems pretty lazy to not put it at least on the radio?

A vast majority of schools broadcast these games.

Just seems bush league to not

The reasons for not doing this are contractual(think IMG) in nature. Vast majority? I'm not sure about that, you would know better than I.

But this is not abnormal for Ohio, we rarely broadcast this game. Like maybe once in the past 10 years. But this subject comes up annually.

I don't know about anyone else, maybe I'm alone in this belief, but I feel like having Dartis play the PG role diminishes his impact on the offensive end. He's a great catch and shoot guy from deep. It's tough to do that when you're the guy expected to run the offense, or at least it seems that way. I'd much rather see him play the SG spot, start Kirk, and have Mike come off the bench. To my eyes, the offense looks "clunky" with no true PG on the floor, especially when you're diminishing your best shooting threat by having him trigger the offense.

But in Saul's offense the PG only really is playing PG bringing it up the court. After we get into the half-court set the positions aren't nearly has important. The offense is designed on quick ball movement with good passers all over the floor. It worked that way two years ago but I thought Jaaron got too dribble happy last year. I don't see Dartis trying to dribble the air out of the ball this year so the offense will be more like the true Saul-ball. I only saw the highlights posted here and some of the comments so obviously not going with a full picture but if Mickle is a good passer out of the post Dartis might have a huge year.
