Been calling this for years...MAC basketball is going by way of football with becoming "made for TV". 3 Saturday home games is pathetic.

One positive - in Kalamazoo on a Saturday. Bell's and other brew pubs and Bobcat basketball. I sense a road trip!

Agreed and in areas like ours, going up against high school basketball on Tuesday isn't that great either. I know where three long time court side season tickets will probably be available this year.

Yeah let's give the program with the highest attendance average only 3 Saturday home games. Great job, MAC!

And one of those when students aren't on campus.

And neither of them when Akron/Groce face off with Ohio. Stick both of those on Tuesday nights.

These league continues to baffle me with their decision making in both hoops and football.

Oh wait ....

No it doesn't. This is the MAC. Expect Stupid.

Said it a couple tweets, but #MACtion and it's North Coast Bias seems real.

I've wondered if they put marquee games during the week because they feel the net effect will be positive. In other words, the bigger game draws more people in during the week, while the weekend draws the big crowd regardless of opponent.

I didn't see anything about the 12 day selections. Can we pick up more games as conference play proceeds?

A good theory. I wonder if there's data inside The Convo or MAC offices to support that?

The flip side might be that getting the marquee opponent on a Saturday would draw a bigger crowd, and if the game experience is outstanding, motivate more people to come to more games. Again, I wonder what kind of data the MAC and Ohio have on this? (If any)

I doubt that the MAC even cares.

I agree...I don't think they are capable of thinking this deeply about something.

Sadly, I know you're both right.

Renewed my ticket today. Yep, one ticket. There are three more available six rows off the court in section 3. It's just not worth the price they are asking any more. Sad to say from a 38 year Athens resident and long time season ticket holder.

To step up the prices they need to step up the level of competition.

This would make sense if most of the MAC programs were located in cities. Rural towns won't draw well on a weeknight regardless of the opponent.

Yep - free/bought slew of tics from the local car parts manufacturer or surrounding area schools won't get as many butts in seats in Athens, BG, Oxford, Muncie, Hudson/Stow, Ypsi, Mt Pleasant, etc, as the major urban metropolis cities of most P5 uni's
