I'm with you on the argument about the number of MAC required non-conf home games needing revision. That said, as the rules are currently, the multiple non-D1's doesn't hurt much on the side of the RPI/SOS, etc numbers because they don't even get calculated. I'm not in favor of that mind you, but it's the way it is according to what I read last year on this subject.

Of course it does hurt when it comes to perception. Since the selection committee changes their at-large criteria about every 3- years, who knows what will make a difference in scheduling next year.
That's why I was asking about what MAC teams pay. I think the non-D1 teams only cost about $3K-$5K compared to the $75K average that bigger schools pay. I think the RPI benefit is secondary to the costs.

I think the more accurate way to depict that would be that the games don't necessarily hurt the RPI/SOS ... but it does nothing to help it.

If those non-D1 games were replaced with marginal D1 games, it would help the RPI/SOS.

It's like in a race .... if you just stand there you aren't necessarily hurting yourself as much as you would by going backwards .... but you're really doing nothing to help yourself either.
