"Star forward AJ Clayton had yet another underwhelming performance for Ohio, notching only 3 points on one field goal in a measly 11 minutes played. After a shockingly low output of minutes, whether Clayton is fully healthy has become a serious question."
Ok, so ask it. I lifted this paragraph from The Post's report of last night's game. We have three starters whose status is up in the air. From what I can tell, no one is asking the direct questions to Boals about these players. Now of course, we're not going to get any more answers about Elmore until he either rejoins the team or leaves it permanently. I understand and respect that, and the two sentence statement the department released is more than was said by anyone in two years about IJ Ezuma.
Toy danced around the topic in the pregame show last night and therefore gave Boals no reason to expand on Hadaway's status. Instead of asking "what is Aidan's status?" it was "you're a little short-handed tonight..." I only caught the tail end of the post game interview but I didn't hear any questions regarding Clayton's minutes. Watching the replay, Clayton did start holding his ankle after an EMU player drove at him in the first half, but was up and walking during timeouts the rest of the game. It could have been a precautionary benching with Hadaway already down and not so much a wakeup call benching, but I'm only guessing.
Russ and Marty seemed a little more direct with this. I remember Marty in pregame against maybe Western Michigan in early 2020 asking Boals about Marvin Price. When a player would go down in a game with an injury, Russ always asks "what are you able to say about so and so...?"
I'm not a Messenger subscriber, but Decker was covering high school basketball last night. Has he written any insight to Hadaway since Akron? I might subscribe if I knew the questions I want answered are going to be asked. There was a Post reporter and a Bobcat Showcase reporter tweeting game updates last night and people were asking in the replies about Hadaway and Clayton. These people know what their readers want to know. If they're not going to ask these questions, why should I consume their content? Seemingly gone are the days of Caleb Troop who became the best insider his freshman year armed with only a personal blog.
I love this clip of Georgetown head coach Ed Cooley lighting a fire under his student media. Where's this fire from our camp?
