Too bad the effort didn’t start until about six minutes to go. Not gonna win many games when you give up 90. We are what we are.

If Searls is the " #upgrade " it would be depressing to see what the " #downgrade " would be.
This team needs what Wiz does far more than it needs what Searls does.
Miss rebounds, fumble the basketball, look like a deer on ice skates, and turn the ball over?
Wiz turnover rate last year: 17.5%
Vic Searls so far this year: 22.9%

We -- very, very desperately -- need a big who can impact shots at the rim, hedge on a pick and roll and recover, and rebound his position reasonably well.

We don't need an offensive minded big who is our 7th best offensive player.
We need a Jon Smith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the sad thing is we DO NOT have a Jon Smith in the next few recruiting classes. I don't need Big Reg or Leon The Great. I just need Jon Freaking Smith!!!

One thing I’ll take away from this. AJB playing like his air is on fire and ass about to catch. Constantly diving on the floor and playing hurt. AJC on the bench kicking it with the walk ons.

Hard to look at Sheldon as a D-One player if he isnt making 35% of his 3’s. Four open looks again and not even close on any attempt.

Yeah, I'd also like a very good big man.

I'm referencing Wiz only because people here still insist on sh*tting on the poor kid while watching our disaster of a frontcourt waste a talented perimeter team. We can't do the basics in the frontcourt. I assure you Wiz isn't my first choice for the job.

I’d love to see a survey of us bobcat attackers as to who is better the Wiz or Vic! I can’t believe anybody believes the wiz is even close. He couldn’t catch a ball, he couldn’t shoot the ball, he couldn’t finish at the rim or set screen. He ever scored 12 or 14 points in a game? Wiz was recruited by Louisville. Vic was a D2 player. So, my vote goes to Vic. He has heads and shoulders above the wiz.

Not a great performance. Hopefully the friendly confines of the Convo will bring a win this weekend.

Vic shoots 6-7, with 5 rebounds and only 2 fouls.

Wiz never had a game that good in 2 years...

It's possible (and hear me out here) that a program of our caliber should never be forced to choose between Wiz and Vic. Someone mentioned lazy recruiting on another thread - to me this is a prime example.

With all the talent around the globe, if you cant find better bigs out there, you aren't trying hard enough. Or.... (and hear me out again)... you aren't coaching them correctly. Pick your poison, but this is a Boals issue.

I don't fault Vic or Wiz for being asked to play at a much higher level than they are capable. I would be shocked if there's not more availability out there, but it takes a little work and elbow grease to go watch these kids play at tournaments and on Fridays before our games. I just don't see Boals and his staff doing the work. Sorry.

I'm fine with Vic as an offensive player. But my stance on him all along has basically been that he perpetuates our biggest challenges as a team, and doesn't do the things this team needs a big to do.

He's not a fit for this particular team. Doesn't make him some awful player, and doesn't mean he's not going to have some good games. But we got destroyed on the glass tonight, and they got every single shot they wanted to get. Anybody who watches Searls on the defensive side of the ball can see his major limitations there.

And go up in this thread and folks want to talk poorly of his output.

I agree we need a rim protector. I don’t think wiz was and certainly Vic isn’t. This gets back to one of my pet peeves. Boals doesn’t appear to change his strategy given the personnel he has. He’s trying to fit a bunch of Square pegs into round holes.

You say this based on your experience from practice and film evaluation? Asking for a friend.

I will echo this because I watch every Bobcat game and have watched 95 percent of the games from O'Shea to Boals. Under Boals when was the time when we had an actual rim protector? Never. Boals caught lightning in a bottle with JP and BVP but has had little success replicating that as he just doesn't recruit athleticism. Like Greg Tribble-Christian Henry athleticism. Hell, Ivo would be the most athletic guy aside from Elliott on this squad.

In only 14 minutes at APSU he hit 100% from the field and the FT line plus 3 boards and 2 assists. And there was the back to back dunks against Fiami early in the second half that turned that game in our favor.

Maybe the better question is not Vic vs Wiz... but either one of them vs the type of post player we need to improve this team and continue to not have.

I say that having watched basketball for over 40 years. I’ve seen changes in the game. I’ve seen good teams and bad teams. Good coaches and bad coaches. The best coaches adjust. Or they go out and get people that can play their system. This year, there’s definitely something not working. i’ve told you what I think it is.
Footnote, I’ve seen a ton of bobcat games from Jim Snyder to Jeff Boals. I’ve also seen countless games and teams on TV. It isn’t hard to determine which teams are good and well coached in which aren’t.

Which begs the question. What is going on internally in the locker-room? Does anyone truly believe Elmore is coming back? The guy does the radio show on Wednesday night and then he doesn't get on the bus to Akron 16 hours later? What in the world could have happened between the radio show and the bus pulling out of the Convo? I hope nothing terrible happened to a family member or in his personal life, but until somebody tells us what happened (and they won't ), it just doesn't add up.

And then tonight....down by 20 in the first half against EMU and the team didn't look pissed or mad. Just going through the motions until it was too late with 4 minutes left.

If this goes south the rest of the season, Boals is going to have to take a deep look into the mirror.

A little disturbing seeing AJC laughing/smiling sitting next to a walk-on with his team down 20.

I agree with this. Sheldon has lost even the cocky swagger he has always had. Reef looks ticked. Pavs looks like he cares more than others and knows it. AJB has not materialized into more than a good player. Elliott is the only athlete we have and the way he was held back this year echoes how Boals held Sears back as a freshman. I hope EJ4 is ok but we will never know just like we have no idea what happened to Lundo. Strike me down but I wish this team had Mason McMurray or Colin Granger right now. At least they'd take it personal.

I had a meeting tonight, and I thought I had the game taped. I didn't. I'm glad I goofed in this instance. Don't want to watch this disaster. I would appreciate a few sentence summary of what happened.

One general question: Does Heath have players with more talent than OHIO? Did he do a better job of coaching in this game? Or, was this just one of those games where the whole team is having an off night and even Johnny Wooden would have gone home with an L?

I had the same thought when I saw it. Has he checked out since getting on the Henson list? I thought BSU and Akron double and triple teamed him at times, but tonight he just didn't seem to be there mentally.

Somehow, I doubt you have any friends. A "friend" asked I post this.

They thought your insecurity, always needing to be right, and often wrong facts be mentioned.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Maybe because he wasn't physically.

Unless you know the facts why criticize?
