Big guy that killed us last year graduated. Still thinking we should not take that 1 and 4 record too lightly.

Higher level of athlete than we just faced. It will be a different kind of game.

very true, we have to close off the penetration lanes and grab the boards.

Hopefully we bounce that Czech Jan Svandrlik outta the Convo with an o-fer from downtown... Dude torched us with a 5 of 6 performance last year. Especially disconcerting considering he only made 19 3's for all of last season.
You know, I almost hope Kevin is out for one more game just to build Doug, James and Zach's minutes and confidence...

Go Bobcats!

Per Arkley, he could possibly play vs Iona but its questionable. It would be nice to have him against a team like Iona.

Wouldn't it be nice to have Mickle and Carter both back healthy for Maryland? I would just like to have 8 scholarship players available not named Dozier to rotate in and out. I think as Butler grows we can sub Dartis, Butler and Kirk while Laster and Block are doing a great job at the 3-4. If Gollon is healthy he's doing admirably well at the 3-4. DT could use some help with minutes in the post.

Three of their four losses were by 9 pts or less, to Syracuse (9), Coastal Carolina (5) and Albany (2). They have four guys averaging in double figures, so they're pretty balanced.

They are one of the few teams in the country that gets to the line less than we do. They haven't been a very good rebounding team this year either. Too bad we don't even try to go for offensive rebounds on occasion.

Have to think that's by design, right? Coaches know we don't have the bigs to fight for boards right now and we're painfully thin and/or inexperienced. I would think they're telling the guys to be a little less aggressive on the offensive glass.

I think that's a Saul thing. Our national ranking in offensive rebounding in the Saul era is as follows: 319, 307, 287, & 338. I think we are basically saying, we are going to try to get the best shot possible and if we miss we want to prevent run-outs and we'll get them in the half court.

I hope so. I'd like the drive to be worthwhile. ;)

I didn't take the chance to read the Blue Ribbon on Iona before this game. Anyone know anything about their new players this year?

Any update on our bigs? Gareri is questionable for Iona? Any chance Carter is back for Maryland? Vander Plas mid-December?

I'm not putting any stock of BVP being back by mid-December. I think borna mentioned he had just gotten off the little cart recently. I'm hoping by conference play if anything at all. I really hope we don't end up redshirting him because I don't think we can afford to, but I guess it's better than losing more than half the year.

I guess I'm not sure where the timelines for the injured players comes from? I hadn't really heard anything concrete.

Based on recent events in transfers, I hope he doesn't end up redshirted, but if he can't get back to practice by mid-January, I'd understand why he'd want to.

Right now, getting 2 of the 3 back into practice and able to play 10-15 min/game would be a big boost for the team - in my opinion anyway.

I find this team to be so entertaining from a skill and a competitive standpoint, even in a loss. Usually I hate losing. As a Bobcat fan I expect to win, especially against a 1-4 Iona team. But to look at a bench that consists of 6-5 Gollon and 6-4 Butler and to see timeouts with 6-8 Mickle, 6-7 Vander Plas, 6-8 Carter and 6-9 Gareri in street clothes makes me realize that the 7 guys playing right now are playing their butts off. They are learning. Butler gained more confidence tonight and Gollon hit a few 3's. And I still think Kirk will be MAC Freshman of the Year. Kid is so clutch. Laster could be MAC POY once he gets an inside presence to free up his drives. Guy is epitome of a leader.

Why do you constantly pick on - go after a kid on the team who’s done nothing to you. He’s not been given an opportunity so you really don’t know what he’s capable of over a substained period of time in games. If you don’t like the kid for a personal reason take it off the board, it doesn’t belong here. To attack a young man character is small and unethical. He’s the only kid on the team you can’t support?

I would imagine the lack of rebounding and post D had something to do with us having ONE healthy big man.

Considering our depth problems, good effort tonight. This team really fights hard. Kirk was a little out of control at times (shows with all those turnovers) but he also showed some great vision and finishing ability around the basket. He could be something special for Ohio.

Mickle should be back... Anyone else?
