I think we're all excited about a great win today and a possible turning point in our season - but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I knew that was coming. My point being is that we might look back at Simmons leaving as a blessing in disguise so this kid could play 30 minutes per game his Freshman year. But I hear ya about it only being 4 games. However, he gets more than a passing grade at this point. It's rare that a point guard can post up in the paint like this kid.

It's going to be awesome watching this kid develop. His ability to drive to the hoop and finish creatively is off the charts! Already so many scoop and scores. Now the shooting...

I mentioned in another thread he has a chance to be Frosh of Year. I have no comparison other than his play. He will be special.

FIFY.

I saw Pearl Jr is on staff at Auburn. Guess he is going to have to handle the bag duties for now

Thanks for the fix, borna. My original statement was true, but your edit makes it "truer."

Huge potential but he's going to have to learn the difference between running the show and being the show.

I first read that as, "I saw Pearl Jam at Auburn."

Reminds me of a similar bornacat aphorism.

In conversation over the weekend, I said he needs to spend the a lot of next summer with Tommy working on that jumper. I'm sure he's already spending quite a bit of time now.

That depends on Saul's recruiting. 7 played vs Iona? That's it? Seven?
He has to have players after Dartis/Block/Laster are done.

Yes, a couple of guys are injured but every last healthy person dressed out (other than the occasional walk-on) needs to be a legit D-1 basketball player. That's why it's so vital to keep a schollie open for the inevitable "wants more playing time" guy who will transfer from a P5 school or the growing number of grad transfers looking to play one last year and get a masters without footing the bill. And where more fun to do that than Athens?

IUPUI actually got a transfer who was a 4-star, Mr Basketball in Kentucky, McDonalds and Parade All-American, 3rd all time leading scorer in Ky history in h.s. - because they had the schollie available when most other schools did not.

It wasn't a couple players injured. It's 4. Find me another school that wouldn't be affected by having 1/3 of their scholarship players (including the best player) out with injury. And we did leave a scholarship open this year.
