He was on his way to Dozier land. Had Gollon not got injured along with Campbell, Laster may have never gotten his opportunity, but he did and he has run with it. He came in with no shot and now he shoots over 50%. Go Cats.

Huh? The kid has been able to play since day 1 but there were lots of folks ahead of him. He started showing these flashes late in his sophomore year. He's carried this team this year. The interesting sidebar to this conversation though is this - not counting the two freshmen big men, when everyone else is healthy this year, who starts and get the minutes? Right now I'm starting Laster, Mickle, Carter, Dartis and then who is the fifth guy? You essentially have Block, Gollon and the two freshmen to choose from. At this point, Doug is coming off the bench to spell Mickle and Carter.

Back to Laster, he is a Jaivon Harris/Mike Reese type who I will take any day of the week.

Where would this team be w/o the progression shown by Laster from his fr season to his sr season and w/o the grad transfer of Mickle?

Get Carter and Dartis back to 100% and Ohio becomes that team that . . .

Alan, Kirk has to the fifth starter with the 4 you mentioned. Block off the bench.

He is smooth like Harris, almost Mychal Green esque.

Reese never had Laster's ability to score like this.

I would have to agree with that IF Kirk stops dribbling so much.

Laster has a style of play that looks more like a player from 25 years ago.

Those are impressive numbers. I knew he was playing well, but the percentages are better than I would have expected.

Yes, he really was the spark today that kept us firing on all cylinders for most of the game. Without him we would have lost. He should have had three more. I don't know what the officials saw during the review, but the shot definitely left his hand before the shot clock reached zero.

If it was (and not a hold over from JC), then kudos to SP as while he looked like he was deadweight early on, his development and style of game is much appreciated. SP needs to go back to this periodically as this isn't your prototypical Saul-Ball style player and it's nice to see an occasional wing on your squad that 1) can create their own shot; 2) can matchup with the oppositions athleticism; 3) doesn't look like fish out of water going to the basket.

I'm confused on "dead weight"? He played nearly 20 minutes a game as a freshman. As a sophomore, while it might have seemed like he regressed, its worth noting that he faced more competition for PT than he did as a freshman with the arrivals of Simmons, Dartis, Block and Gollon.
