When I played for Garfield Heights in the early 60's, the only truly famous basketball player that showed up was Ralph Crosthwaite (from Saturday's opponent, WKU) http://www.hilltopperhaven.com/legends/crosthwaite.html . He moved into the area while trying out for the Cleveland Pipers after failing to make the Celtics. I worked out with him during the summer. He didn't make the Pipers either (not my fault). Otherwise, the only "famous" players that showed up were alumni that played (or were playing) in college.

Sonny has brought them to new heights.

Yes, Sonny well known in Northeast Ohio does a great job at getting most of his players D1 scholarships and runs a excellent basketball program. Not surprised to see Lebron and crew paying his team a visit.

Garfield Hts.gym will conitinue to see a lot of DI coaches visiting over the next several years. His nephew dropped 50 tonight against Benedictine. Kid is a freshman. His son, Sonny Jr., might be even better.

Sonny spoke recently about becoming a "pipeline" for Ohio State. Hope he'll consider sending the leftovers our way...
