If Carter can play, he’ll give Ohio a good chance at another win over Maryland.

I watched the OT of Maryland vs Illinois last night. Maryland gave back a 22 point lead apparently, then won in OT. Their PG Cowan is really quick, and is gonna be tough for Ohio to contain.

Well, I think this is a game where we continue to be happy with the grit/fight of the team. But, I'm thinking it would be a miracle to beat Maryland with 2 freshman PGs and our best player injured (or just returning from injury).

Will be interesting to see if/how Kirk can handle their quick point guard.

I was going to say, if anyone needs tickets for this game, we got tickets on the upper sideline. PM me and will make them cheap for you!

Tried to scare up 'Rome's ESPN Top 10 throwdown and could not find it. Good trip. Good win in Leon's backyard but could not find it....

Hope the guys come out fighting.

Most impressive in that video?

Some of the crowds in the Convo a mere 10 years ago.

The most important parts of that video:

-KVK busting a three in a Miami defender's face.

-Young TFree with the mop haircut.

-Anytime Leon bulldozed his way through the post.

-The Jerome dunks.

It's the shabamon effect. Put me in the O Zone and good things happen.

Actually, 07-08 was a great year in the Convo from a spectator standpoint. The road was a different story, but home games were fun. As I remember it, we had lots of great weekend home games, including:

-An NBA jam nailbiter against New Mexico State
-High scoring affair with Cornell where Leon put the team on his back for the win.
-Controlling a really good Kent squad. Singletary gets tossed and Jerome shoots like six free throws in a row.
-Big comeback against a depleted Ball State team on Dad's weekend. Jerome fadeaway in the late seconds for the win.
-The truly awesome bracketbuster comeback against George Mason in front of crazed O Zone. If there was one game I would want to relive, it's this one. The second half was a madhouse.
-JSF getting the boot against Buffalo.

I'm of the belief that on paper, the 2008 roster was the best of the last 15 years, but was mis-coached a bit (Ohio has no business only beating St. Francis (NY) by only four, even on the road, and why are we giving Allen Hester more minutes than Tommy Freeman??). Anyway, enough of the rabbit hole.

Good memories, good times that year. That Bracketbuster game, the Kent game were both fantastic games to be at. I always contended that all that was missing from several O'Shea coached teams was a solid PG.

Maryland is by far the most athletic team we have played this year. Their bigs worry me. I think back to the Clemson game and what their big guy did to us. Maryland's bigs are bigger and stronger. The Terps have had two great recruiting classes in a row but for some reasons the sum is less than the individual pieces. But we are going to have to play very well and bring out defensive "A" game to win this one.

Ohio will be about a 13-point dog (possibly more) I'm guessing.

Will take a mammoth effort to win this game.

I look at it as a great opportunity against a far superior opponent to again get tuned up for MAC play.

A win would be stunning

What's funny is, I don't care if we get blown out in this game as long as we continue to play hard. I have been as impressed and proud of this team as I was of any team the past several years. I thought Christian Year 2 overachieved and was tough with guys like Wilkins and TJ stepping up but you could tell JC lost the by the end of the year (Jon Smith quitting showed that). This year's team just entertains with its hustle. I don't know what BVP and Gareri will bring but if one or both of them can give us 10 minutes, 4 points, 3 boards and some hustle, and you couple that with Kirk/Butler development and the return of Carter and we will be the team no one wants to face in MAC play.

Always love to read this on BA, but usually have to wait until Feb., Jan. at the earliest, before the first mention of no one wanting to face Ohio. I think Dec. 5 sets a new record for the earliest "no one will want to face Ohio" proclamation on BA. And I don't think it's a stretch to say BA has included some variation of this statement going into the MAC tourney for the previous 10 years.

when I see Maryland/Ohio I can't help but think of Billy Hahn. I was at a basketball camp in the summer of 1986. Hahn had just been named head coach and Len Bias had just OD'd. Hahn was very loud, very profane (at least to my 14-year-old ears), and couldn't sit still.

Great job of not adding anything of value to this post.
