This game could only have been more embarrassing if we lost, which we almost managed to do. A&M was not a good team, putting it mildly. We let them back into the game at the end when it should have turned into a 25 point rout. Team needs to learn that you don’t push the ball and force shots when it’s time to sit on the ball at the end of the game – wow! Ok, we won and I know we have potential so I won’t have a complete meltdown.
Defense was pretty solid but there was little offense. Missed open 10 footers all day long. Without Carter, nobody picked it up on the offensive end. And nobody’s scoring off the dribble except Kirk.
Dartis needs to find a way to get off more catch-shoot shots;
Doug, be a beast and just go up with the ball when you’re underneath the hoop;
Kirk, a very nice freshman pickup; hopefully he has an outside shot but he never looked for it today and it was there at times.
We definitely have potential but need Carter and the 4 freshmen if we plan to make some noise this year.
Nongame observations:
The NO Zone continues to be pathetic. Don’t recall ever seeing it this bad when school is in session. I counted 15 people in the middle 2 student sections at tipoff, maybe 60 later on; and mostly empty season ticket holder seats too. Buckeye football?
Great to have the former players back but a poorly planned (?) halftime show. Could have given all these men a little more recognition. I mean, there were some MAC POY out there! The only people who knew the former players were sitting on the other side and all we saw was their backs the entire ceremony. Who’s running the show out there? Bush league, I’m sorry. Surprised to see Jeremy Fears in the house. Did he actually graduate from here as he was here less than 2 years if I recall correctly.
Finally, the giveaway for season ticket holders of the replica Convo, made in China, is a piece of crap; my wife plans to return it next game.
