Yikes.

I had the chance to talk with a former Ohio employee, now with Miami AD, during the FB game last week. I inquired about Fiami's hoops prospects for this year. They said that the new coach, previously at Purdue, offered 5 guys his first week on the job, all previously on Purdue's radar. All 5 committed. So I'm sure they'll take their lumps this year, but watch out. Sounds promising. Will be nice to get the conference better.

pYeah.,

I am not writing them off very quickly. Time will tell. I am more concerned with the staff he put together not being up to the task. I think he will get the jimmies and the joes, just not sure the calibre of the guys around him will be able to keep up.

Are the five on the roster this year or coming next year?

Miami's continued multi-sport sucking is such an odd cocktail of emotions for me. I love it on the surface, but if I step back and think I actually hate it. Sucky teams can't really even have rivals, because no one cares. I love that we are dominating but I hate that no one in Oxford cares. The apathy surrounding their sports is just getting worse and worse. Every year I prank my next door neighbor Miami grads on the day of the game, and every year they don't even know about the game.

I feel like we've been saying they'll return to being a more than respectable athletic program someday, but boy...I don't know.

Which is exactly why, at least in basketball, they've moved well down the list of "rivals" and games I mark on the calendar. Before I was a season ticket holder, the Miami game was ALWAYS marked on the calendar as a must attend. Now, if I were to mark the calendar, it would be for Akron, Kent, or UB.

I agree - I'd like to see them get better just to make the so-called rivalry relevant again. I think in basketball, they have a couple frosh that should help them get better.

I'm not interested in seeing them succeed in anything. They can continue to fail and fail and fail and I'll be perfectly happy. Their fans don't care, even if they were winning.

Miami beats Fordham on the road by 1 point yesterday. Fordham is not a world beater by any means, but they are ranked higher than Miami so its a nice win for them.

Freshman Jalen Adaway had 15 points, 14 rebounds, and hit the game winning shot.

Just one game, but maybe they aren't quite so bad after-all.

Flying to Charleston this morning. Miami team on the same place so got to spend time talking to coaches about being in Oxford and hoops in general.

I don't think they will be down very long. Seems like a good vision to restore basketball as a revenue sport. Recruiting going well. Got to say hey to our Indiana kids jalen and Nike. Seems like the program has a direction and is moving the right way. Between coach there, and whit at balls they both seem to be restoring both programs to some sembelence of their former selves...

Great way to kill an hour, kids are very personable and coaches are really approachable. I like this group more than any since Ballard was playing

Good luck in Jamaica. Brooklyn up first, see you in the new year.

They also got a win as an underdog over Wright State.
