We (me included) spend a lot of time complaining about coaching, recruiting, effort, inconsistent talent, always "just missing" . . . and then the Indiana State game comes along. Wow. Haven't seen enough on the board about the tremendous effort of basically five players (with Gallon filling in now and then) through most of the 2nd half of the 2nd half and all 4 OTs. They just wouldn't quit and kudos to the coaches for not letting them. I'm sure ISU thought they had the game in the bag more than once, but 5 guys playing 50+ or nearly 50 minutes each had other ideas. Thanks, guys. You gave me a memorable Sunday afternoon. Good luck the rest of the way, but no matter what happens I'm going to be a little less critical when I remember this game.

Indiana State is not great, they are a top 150 team at best, the good thing is that we got a victory in a quadruple overtime after coming back multiple times. This is not a national championship or a Mac championship, it is a start. We did all of this without Carter and with Simmons defection. Let’s not settle here and plant the moral flag, let’s win baby.

That slogan, like Al Davis, is dead. Our guys play hard and to win every night.

Sounds kinda like what Lavar Ball is telling the LA Lakers' coaching staff.

I keep thinking about how good this team should be once Carter is back in the lineup.

I dunno if I'm even in the same hemisphere as people talking about "how good this team should be".

We were a miraculous comeback away from going 0-fer the tournament in South Carolina. We aren't very deep (though hopefully getting the bigs healthy will change this a bit). We are very young/inexperienced. We don't have a sure-fire go-to "it" man (Dartis doesn't seem to take that role naturally, nor does Block - and we all kinda hope Carter will but he's never had to at this level so that's still in question). We're starting a freshman at PG (as good as he is - he's still going to make freshman mistakes).

I see a team that plays hard, never gives up, is made of really good guys and will be fun to root for. But I dunno about saying we're a "good" team yet at all. I think we've got a lot of struggling and growing still to do before we can say that, but that's JMO.

I’m there with you, Graf. I like the classes Saul’s recruiting, but with all the injuries I just don’t see the team winning the MAC Tourney this year, although with my luck with football prognostications, you might as well book tickets to March Madness now. This team will take some time playing together when everyone’s healthy. Like Sam Bobcat said for football, I see this hoops team peaking next year and the year thereafter.

Darn these Great Lakes X Mas ales are good....

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I hear ya Graff. I'm just as excited as anyone here with the grit and win on Sunday. But this thought is also going through my head....Indiana State must be really, really bad to lose like that to a depleted OHIO team.
