Just purchased my all-tournament tickets yesterday. Getting ready to check out hotel packages and options. Would like to get within walking distance of the arena without costing an arm and a leg.

Tickets are general admission. Guess that makes sense for an eight team tournament when most of the fans will not be going to all of the games and most fans for each game will be with the schools playing in that game.

Looking forward to visiting the great city of Charleston.

Sounds good, we've never been to Charleston - been looking at hotels .. pricey !!

Yep

For years I have had folks picking up my spices for me ...this year I'll get 2 canisters myself.

http://www.oldtownerestaurant.com /

Usually use 2 32oz jars a year....since Tommy was about 3 years old. Mainstay here. http://www.oldtownerestaurant.com/grocerystore.html Last time I was able to do it was 07 when Zach wanted to go take the boat excursion and explore the Fort. I took him out to meet Jose....not that he was gullible at 6years old but he was not for sure if Jose was for real..."Jose can you see..." Never trusted me again.

Looking forward to getting back there for lunch and a bit of shopping. Was going to stay with my Uncle but he passed a couple of months back so I guess we will be looking for a similar hotel Jeff.

We found a moderately affordable AirBNB nearby. When we booked, there were a handful still available. Not sure what's out there now. Hotels are steep unless you want to drive in each day.

Consider mount pleasant. It is right across the bridge. There is also a water taxi service. Also allows you quick access to the beach....which will still be comfortable in November.

I might have to make the trip down for this. Charleston is only about 3.5 hours from Raleigh.

Recently spent a week at the Beach Club at Charleston Harbor Resort and would highly recommend it. Patriots Point's attractions, water taxi to downtown, and Ferry to Ft Sumter are walkable from there. Patriots Point Golf Links is also right there if you're going to play a round while in town.

There are some cheaper options if you want to stay outside of the city proper.

Summerville is a little further out (sort of a suburb of CHS) but may not be as steep per night. As another poster mentioned Mt. Pleasant is on the other side of the Cooper/Wando Rivers and is a little less steep. Eat at Page's Okra Grill if you stay in Mt. Pleasant.

If you do end up springing for something in town, the Francis Marion is a neat place to hang your hat. It's an older hotel and was recently renovated, right off of the College of Charleston campus and a short walk to the TD Arena.
Enjoyed a few nights there a couple of years ago.

This is excellent advice. Breakfast there was outstanding.

No matter where you stay I would suggest a pregame gathering at the roof top bar at the Vendue Inn. There a a couple of levels. All with great views.

My advice having lived in South Carolina for 27 years and traveling to Charleston many times is rent a condo at Wild Dunes Resort. Great restaurants on Sullivans Island and your 15 minutes from downtown.

took your Air BnB advice and snatched one for less than a hundred a night. Seems walkable even with a new titanium ankle joint. Hotels are outrageous.

My sis and her family live in Mount P, so we'll be there. She's a UD grad, so there's lots of interest from my family in this event. As for places to go - I recommend Sullivan's island and Poe's & Dunleavy's. They're right across the street from each other. Also just down the road for Fort Moultrie for some historical sight seeing.

Another spot for some solid night life away from downtown (if that's where you're staying) is Shem Creek in Mount P. 5-6 bars right on the waterfront.

Close by TD Arena, and a rooftop bar is Carolina Ale House over looking Marion Square. My guess is that it's liekly to be one of the hot spots for the tournament. Short of it's location, and the views, I'd call it just "okay" in the one time I've been there.

The original Mellow Mushroom is nearby as well, and it's worth the visit.

I'd recommend simply planning time to take some walks around the downtown peninsula to Battery Park, the waterfront park on the east side of downtown, and over the Ravennel Bridge to visit the Yorktown and Patriot's Point.

Lookin' forward to seeing some familiar faces in Chucktown!

Last time I was in Charleston we stayed at the Isle of Palms and kayaked in Shem Creek. Bought some fresh shrimp caught that morning right off one of the boats. That was some good eatin'.

I'll most likely be there but not sure where I'm staying yet.

We kayaked from Shem Creek a couple years ago. It was the best boat I ever paddled, which is bad because it made my preferred boat, whenever I get to buy one, more expensive. ;)

Poe's best burgers in the Carolinas and about 30 beers on tap. Good call.

I don't think I ate a less than stellar meal in the two weeks I spent in Charleston last fall. My wallet had smoke emanating from it afterwards, but everything was incredible.

I would be OK if my two alma maters never played each other. But I am going to be there to watch just in case.
