No worries. The Big Ten just extended an invite. Peden is expanding to 70,000 seats and the athletics budget is going to be $100 million next year.

If you're not just trolling, you're hopelessly ignorant.

From the looks of his email address I'm afraid he's been on the receiving end of too many thrown darts.

This is the type of stuff that leads people to make blanket statements like "OU fans can't even win their own conference yet they think they're too good for it and think they belong in the Big East." Can we just delete nonsensical garbage like this or is that against some sort of constitutional right?

The nice thing about the MAC is the conference isn't going to force us to go into big facility debt to compete. Basketball practice facility has to be built most likely as a condition of terms for a move. Thus I see the administration holding onto the MAC as long as possible, even if other MAC schools move on as long as it continues to be a viable G5/D1 conference. Kick the can down the road until we are forced to move.

The current "Conf.USA" is SunBelt Jr.

Look how many former Sun Belt teams are in it now compared to some of the teams that were in the original Conf.USA and the Metro Conf. from which it evolved...

Cincinnati
Ga Tech
Louisville
Memphis
Florida State
Va Tech
South Carolina
Houston
TCU

I really don't think MTSU and WKU would be ruling the old C-USA.

It's hard to argue with this being the administration's likely point of view, and it's not a bad one. In the time that C-USA, and the old Big East have risen and fallen, the MAC has been stable and steady. I can't see 2-3 teams leaving for greener pastures. Perhaps one will over the next few years, but there's not likely to be a mass exodus. That's not a bad thing in my book.

If we are going to aim high we should look much higher than the AAC or Big East. How about the NBA?!?

I demand the following:

Football to play in the SEC

Basketball to play in the ACC

Start varsity hockey and have them in Hockey East

All other sports will be members of The Mountain West.

Make it happen.

Joking aside-I did once have a mini dream of Ohio being in the former Big East as it did not seem as big of a reach at the time as say the Big Ten. Liked the idea of having a league with Ohio. WVU, V Tech etc.

If only we were located closer to NYC or DC, we could have a middling athletics program and still be desirable to a big boy conference!

I think the AAC is not beyond the realm of possibility IF UC leaves for the B12 at some point. But who knows if that’ll ever happen. There have been rumors every year for the past five years or so that such a move was imminent, but each time the rumor has proved to be false.

Yes, I can see how moving to the Big East would help football. ;}

BTW, there's something called p-u-n-c-t-u-a-t-i-o-n. You must've taken a remedial English course at A&M.

If I am going to be a fan of anything, I would be a fan of the MAC moving down to FCS. At this point, the big boys aren't going to let the Group of 5 get a crack at the National Championship. Might as well go somewhere where the budgets are a little more in balance versus what is currently at the table.

Actually, as L.C. has pointed out, the typical FCS has a worse bottom line than the average G5 FBS team. The expenses are typical a little less -- fewer scholarships, but the revenue dips, no TV money, no College Football Playoff money, which is now a significant chunk of change. The economics do not favor FCS football.

True, but when thinking about the # of scholarships that are dropped instantly along with complying for Title IX, the economics in those regards make sense. Nonetheless, yes the TV money will dip, but what's not to say that competing for championship like-minded schools will not help increase attendance?

Ok ok ok sorry OU_Country. Back to basketball.

As to MACtion, it currently is a great brand being built up. The problem is the basketball swag needs to come back and with Buffalo atm, it may be our best shot, especially after seeing the kid from Prolific Prep going to Buffalo next year.

My favorite part about troll posts like this is that 3 people will yell about it in the chat room next game and talk about how so many people on the board think we should be in the Big East when we cant even beat Bowling Green.

Exactly what happens. People project 1 fan on an entire fan base ALL THE TIME and it drives me nuts.
