And to continue the rant, that kid who looks like Jesus did nothing while he was in. Is he a walk-on?
Jesus can walk on water, but goodness, he looks lost on the hardwood. Let’s just say he looks a little nervous out there.

Yes but the water he was turning to wine on the bench kept the players happy.

No question Gareri desperately needed some court time in the non-conference portion of the schedule but injury prevented that. I’ve had a hard time figuring out what his role is when he’s on the court and I guess Saul didn’t want to redshirt him, although I don’t see how he will contribute this year.

The thing that to me is really contributing to our demise this season is the excessive amount of traveling calls. We just aren’t talented enough to be constantly giving up possessions due
to unforced errors such as travel calls. Maddening.

And missed shots close to the basket - also called layups back in my Grover Center days. I missed a $hit load but I wasn't a basketball player.

Schedule isn't kind coming up....1-8....2-7 to kickstart conference play is a real possibility.

I'm saying 4 and 3. Beat Toledo, win one in the EMU/Akron series, lose to Buffalo, lose to BG and beat Central and Akron.

Tough loss. I saw improvements with defense playing physical last night. Block improved his production on offense. Saw some easy layup play calls from the coach. We came up short but had the opportunity to walk away with the win.

I actually thought Gareri looked more comfortable on the court this game. He didn't score but he grabbed a couple rebounds, passed well etc. He is truly learning on the fly. He didn't get to play much at all when he came to Athens in the summer due to injury. Then injuries and finally shoulder surgery shelved him for a long time. He basically missed all preseason practices. There's another thread with comments by someone who went to his HS that are pretty insightful.

Once he gets acclimated to the college game and gets his wind he will be a contributor .

Speaking of injuries did anyone else here the announcers say that Gollon will have surgery again this summer?

Block: way to shake off the funk and get hotter than hot--I loved it. BUT if you are one of the team leaders, if you didn't tell the other four and the coach that you were taking the final shot and confidently Joe Namathed the guaranteed 2 or three after your shot then you didn't day dream enough when practicing as a kid and hitting the game winner. It was yours for the taking I tell ya..

On another topic--it was neat watching Senderhoff telling Zsabo to miss the 2nd free throw, and HIT THE RIM. The coach should learn from pitchers and catchers to cover up while they are talking--OHIO's lane guys may have been a bit more prepared for the hard liner coming off the rim!

Alan I thought I heard the announcers say Gollon would have another surgery this summer. Also heard Block playing with pelvis issues. No doubt Gareri is just being thrown into the line of fire so it’s really hard to honestly judge nor criticize his play when he essentially had zero pre-conference reps.

Coupled with Dartis hip issues and obvious injury issues with Carter/BVP it just has the makings of a lost season. I think wins will just be exceptionally hard to come by with such an injury riddled cast.

Gareri looked like a solid player on the strong rebounds and outlet passes. Kevin love type player. I can see the upside with him.

Beating Toledo? Hope you are right. Just seems like it will be tough to pull off...especially with what looks like only 3-4K showing up for home games now. #NoBuzz #6YearsRemovedFromSweet16

I've been told that Gareri is a very good three-point shooter in practice. In one recent game I think he went 0-3 from three, and he hasn't tried one since. I do think he's nervous out there. Once he settles down, I think he'll contribute in the scoring column. I did notice, like others, that he rebounded well and passed well in the Kent game.

Laster had a really rough game...lots more missed shots and turnovers than you'll see from him. That and really bad foul trouble from Doug didn't help matters, yet we still almost pulled it out.

I hate where we are at, 1-3 is ugly to look at, but I still feel like this team can turn a corner. Let's rip off a 3 game win streak heading into the Buffalo game.
