We can't say anything about their roster. They have a really nice piece in Ivey and a transfer in Duvierer who looks like an animal physically. Utomi and Olajapoke were also solid off the bench against us last year. IF we play like we did the other day with the same effort and ball movement we should be ok. I think Doug and Mickle will be able to make some moves inside but it will come down to Dartis and Block from outside.

Utomi is their leading scorer, but he's had some struggles in conference play. Duvivier is clearly the guy that makes them go, along with Ivey. Between them, they average almost 27ppg, and 8 assists per game.

Those three guys are definitely good players. After that, it tails off a little because of inexperience. Also, I think they only have 10 scholarship players right now with 3 transfers sitting for next year.

Is it Olajapoke who is out for the season due to heart issues, or someone else?

It is him. It looks like he hasn't played since the second MAC game of the season.

Yeah he is out for the year. He had open heart surgery or something after collapsing in practice last week.

FWIW: At the game Saturday against NIU the premium handed out at the door was a bobble head of the President of the University! On the box it has several of his highlights.

Get this: Matthew J. Wilson, UA's 17th President, Former Dean of Akron Law and University of Utah grad can speak both English and Japanese AND once made 60 POINTS in a BASKETBALL GAME! ....Impressive!

He also challenged a student to a contest and the President made his layup, free throw and knocked down his trey before the student.

Wonder what level of game he scored his 60?

Oh and the freshman shooting guard Cotton was zeroed in on the three in the game hitting early and late. Let's see who has a leg up on all MAC freshman team from a one game sample of head to head with Kirk and Cotton..

We're due for a blowout win. They just don't usually come up there.

It'd be nice if our 3's were falling tonight rather than their 3's.

+1 Dartis is probably the key here, though Block is due to get out of his slump.

Love the Frayer video, nice to see the guys having fun.

Please win tonight! 2nd straight road win would be a huge turnaround to the season.

While watching the Frayer video I contemplated who is the best dunker on our team. Any thoughts? I have one in mind, but I'd like to hear others' first.

1. I’ve tried really hard to stay out of the pile on SP melee of late, though I feel tonight the way I felt last week, 2 weeks ago, 2 months ago and 2 yeas ago. Not an emotional response.
2. I’m somewhat confident we’re going to comeback and win this game. Tonight is not my concern.

But “Come On Man!” This is hideous. Honestly, if this is the starting point and the basement for JG at Akron, how long do you give him until he’s owning us again?

5 shot attempts combined from Laster & Dartis...0 of which went in. Gotta fix that in the 2nd half.

I haven't been to the Convo in 2 seasons. I didn't bother to travel to Kent (6 miles) or Akron (5 miles) to see this team this season. This trend began with Saul and I'm afraid it will continue with Saul. Program is dying a slow death.

The team put up a fight and came up short. That blows, but I believe we will unhinge Buffalo at home. Win or lose I will be there.

The truth of the night is that we have seen a sign of things to come. The architect of the single greatest run in the history of our program has assumed the reigns of our nemesis. He beat us with a roster that is not his. He beat us at what could be his low point in terms of rostered talent. He beat us at the mid-point of the 4th year of the highest paid coach in the MAC.

What is worse than loosing to Dambrodt? I'd say it is watching your former champion rebuild your hated rival with no viable response on the horizon. You can worry about Buffalo and Ball State all you want. I am worried about Akron. They enjoy beating us and we are going to quickly be thirsty for a Groce style roster. Compare what you know Groce will have to what we do have and what we know is coming. Ready to cheer for the Akron Bobcats yet?

Spare the me apathy and excuse making. Don't type a clever response about how you're above asking Saul to take responsibility because you support the cause irregardless. I love the Bobcats as much as I love honesty, integrity, and vigorous leadership. We have been passed by. We have a system that has made our team irrelevant. We have become the team that other teams want to play in March.

I really wish I would have known I was living in the good old days before they were gone.
