Oh......and the bigs have no hands and can not complete shots under the basket. Its called athleticism.

Gollon had a terrible game yesterday. But I did see Saul pull him aside and lay into him. Gollon brings high energy off the bench as he is active on defense and can score the ball and I believe he will be back next game. Block on the other hand stays on the court longer than the majority of the players on the team and is not productive. He won’t shoot the ball and has a shot. He also failed to contest shots because he is too slow. Need to get a group on the floor that can feed off each other energy. This lineup is not working.

Other than Kirk and Laster, everyone had a bad game. I'll leave it at that.

While I'd argue Block's role isn't really to be the guy that takes a lot of shots, I'd also follow with saying he's seemed "off" several of the last few games. I think he stays on the court because he does a lot of little things and is versatile in the positions he can play.

I'm honestly wondering if the load of minutes isn't catching up to a few of our guys.

Gollon has potential, he was getting minutes over Laster at one point. Block has been inconsistent as well. Saul needs to bring in people to compete with them.

Every player has one or two good qualities to them. The elite players or athletes can create and make their own shots and can play lock down defense. Gollon is an inconsistent part, he is dependent on Later and Kirk's penetration. On defense, he cannot lock down his man. Gollon needs to add to his game. The coaches need to help he, Dartis and Block expand their games. Tommy Freeman should be able to help these guys, he had to expand his game throughout his Bobcat and pro career.

Curious who you would put him in for as a starter?

Kirk - nope, he's not as good a ball handler.
Dartis - nope
Laster - nope, not with the way he's playing.
Block - nope
Taylor - nope, unless you want to go 5 smaller guys with Block playing the role of big man.

I would start Kirk, Darts, Gollon, Laster and Mickle with Block the first one off the bench at the 2 - 4 position, Taylor at 5, and Butler at the point.

Wouldn't mind seeing that change, Alan. We get smaller with Gollon/Mickle replacing Block/Taylor but we get more active players on both sides of the ball.

I wouldn't mind playing four small guys (your scenario is four guys 6'4" and under) and shooting over the top of other teams and getting out in transitions with secondary breaks, but that only works when your big man is dominant in the paint on the defensive end. Mickle is good, but that's a tall task for him.

Maybe an inch each but I think the activeness outweighs that. At times, if the guy from Ellet works out, you could actually put Taylor and Mickle on the floor at the same time for 3 to 5 minutes.

He had a bad game, but this is kind of an ignorant statement.

He's the 2nd best defensive rebounder and 4th best offensive rebounder by % on our team. He has the 2nd highest ft rate (After Mickle), and shoots 91% from the ft line.

He has the highest true shooting % on the team at 63.4%.

Here is a list of Bobcats with a higher True Shooting % in a season since 2002:

Jordan Dartis x2, Nick Kellogg x2, Jon Smith, Tommy Freeman, Leon Williams x2, Whitney Davis, Jeff Halbert. That's it.

He's a good player and he's just starting to come into his own.

First off you need to realize the game is no longer played with peach baskets and is not a joke to compensate for the failures of your favorite grandson.

I’m glad we agree that when a player is struggling it’s ok to sub him out. This team has shown they can compete but failed to deliver against CMU. D1 Ball is not a joke that’s why you do not continue with the same plan and expect different results. Change it up. Thank you for the compliment but my grandson is learning how to palm a bottle not a basketball yet.

In Gavin Block's last 7 games he has scored in double figures one time. "But he does other stuff." No more than 3 rebounds in that span. No more than 1 steal or 1 block in that stretch. He did have two 5 assist games in that span. That's it. If Gollon cracks the starting lineup, Gavin is who I would sit. Through the first 4 games, Gavin was averaging 14 pts/8 boards/3 assists. Since that start, only two games in double figures scoring and his high board game was 6. He's not been good lately.
