I was doing some errands and out of radio range for the second half. Dare I ask what happened (I know we didn't score for a long period of time but why) and what Coach Phillips had to say about it?

"I thought our offensive attack was impatient in the first half, hampered by turnovers," said fourth-year head coach Saul Phillips. "In the second half, hampered by poor shooting, and, at times, not getting the ball to the right spots on the floor against that zone. We kept trying different combinations to see if anybody could figure it out. Alas, we didn't, and, when we did, we missed shots."

3-20 3pt FGs for 15.0%

Those shooting numbers are really really bad. Even Dartis was 1 for 8 and 0-5 from 3.

When was the last time we got beat by 20+ in a MAC game you ask? 2 years ago, the last time we went to Mount Pleasant. They also put up nearly 100 on us in the Convo last year, and beat us twice in 2015. I believe this makes Saul 0-5 against CMU.

I won't panic over it, I know we aren't that bad at shooting. But on the heals of the concerning NWO performance, we need to see a nice performance against NIU Saturday or it is time to worry.

Even accepting the argument that the league is pulling us down (I don't)... um, how do you explain that the top of league has been kicking our ass for the last four years?

"Getting better players" has been a challenge for mid-major teams for decades and I don't buy that excuse when we lose badly to other mid-major teams.

They did this year, anyway. Two from the looks of it. I'm not sure - other than transfers, have they prior to this year?

I don't know who else recruited Shannon Evans, but he's proving to be a true high-major player this year.

Shannon Evans according to verbal commits. Not as highly recruited as I assumed, and I also thought he was listed as 3* by ESPN.

They had the number 2 JUCO player in last year's class. He had high major offers.

Graffz06 & Go Cats Thanks for your perspective and rundown on the game since I was out of radio range in the 2nd half. Sounds like we better right the ship in a hurry or things could get ugly. Here's hoping we start doing that against Northern Illinois this Saturday!

As I'm thinking about this date, it was very close to the Blizzard of '78 when we got stranded on the bus in Upper Sandusky traveling back from a game versus Central Michigan. Can't believe it's been 40 years!

Thanks. Just wasn't sure which one you referred to. Harris is a good one. UB is hitting on all cylinders right now in recruiting. Nate Oates can't be long for his seat there in UB though. I would think he'll be a target for some coaching vacancies in the spring assuming they win as much as I would expect they will this year.

This really isn't the place for it, but we've been talking a little about recruits in this thread, so here's this:

On the coaches show last night (listened on demand this morning), Young Mr. Zach Butler mentioned he chose Ohio over Wichita State, VCU, and Indiana State. While two of those aren't high majors (sorry, but WSU essentially is), they are good offers to have beaten out for the Saul staff.
