A part of me feels bad for Jaaron. It was pretty obvious from the start he was taking advice from people who didn't know what they were talking about.
Those same people probably advised him moving to UM would further his NBA dream. Classic case of wanting to believe what isn't reality.
Exactly.
There were a lot of people on this board who claimed that Jaaron transferring to Michigan would help him make the NBA. This isn't 20 years ago. The NBA is smart enough to find talented players at every D-1 school. Heck, the NBA does a pretty good job finding foreign players who never play at the D-1 level.
Exposure has never mattered less when it comes to making the NBA. Computers care significantly more about production. Computers can very easily run numbers on players at Ohio just like they can run numbers on players at Michigan.
-Multiple players on 2017 NBA All-Star teams attended mid-major colleges
-Multiple players on 2016 NBA All-Star teams attended mid-major colleges
-2 of the top 5 point guards in the NBA (debatable) attended mid-major colleges
-2016 NBA MVP attended mid-major college
The real trend you see in the NBA draft is Seniors going undrafted. It's almost all 1-and-done freshman being drafted in the 1st round...
In fact, in 2012, 2013 and 2014 the highest college Senior drafted was from a mid-major school.
A lot of people are stuck in their reality of how things used to be.
