Injuries are no excuse.  I learned that on the football forum.  smiley

No kidding. First he inherits Bean. Then Campbell goes down for the year after a PoY season. Jaaron gets poached for PG bench depth at scUM. Now JC.

This injury made me think what if Jaaron stayed - how upsetting would that be - but then I looked and he only got ten minutes playing time today - yikes
Zavier Simpson with 9 assists, 3 boards, 3 points, in that one in 18 minutes.

A part of me feels bad for Jaaron. It was pretty obvious from the start he was taking advice from people who didn't know what they were talking about.

Not one bone in my body feels bad for Jaaron. Sure, he got advice (good/bad?) to transfer to UM. I'm also sure he got advice to stay at Ohio. He's a young man who had to make up his own mind. He made it and now has to live with it, good or bad.

Those same people probably advised him moving to UM would further his NBA dream. Classic case of wanting to believe what isn't reality.

Instead, at least right now, all he is to Michigan is depth. An insurance policy.

Exactly.

There were a lot of people on this board who claimed that Jaaron transferring to Michigan would help him make the NBA. This isn't 20 years ago. The NBA is smart enough to find talented players at every D-1 school. Heck, the NBA does a pretty good job finding foreign players who never play at the D-1 level.

Exposure has never mattered less when it comes to making the NBA. Computers care significantly more about production. Computers can very easily run numbers on players at Ohio just like they can run numbers on players at Michigan.

-Multiple players on 2017 NBA All-Star teams attended mid-major colleges
-Multiple players on 2016 NBA All-Star teams attended mid-major colleges
-2 of the top 5 point guards in the NBA (debatable) attended mid-major colleges
-2016 NBA MVP attended mid-major college

The real trend you see in the NBA draft is Seniors going undrafted. It's almost all 1-and-done freshman being drafted in the 1st round...
In fact, in 2012, 2013 and 2014 the highest college Senior drafted was from a mid-major school.

A lot of people are stuck in their reality of how things used to be.

I'll take CJ McCollum and Steph in my backcourt. Bring Lillard off the bench. Kawhi with Whitesides and Milsap upfront. Haywood and Paul George for depth.

If you can play, they know where you are.

FYI - sunny and low 70's for the end of the week. Ocean water still low 70's as well. Unfortunately, I'm stuck up the coast in Wilmington on business. If you are staying up near the college try Callie's Biscuits for breakfast.

Okay, we've got these guys out:

Jason Carter (leg/ankle/foot)
Ben Van Der Plas (foot)
A.J. Gareri (shoulder)

Anybody have any idea of the timeframe for any or all?

I think when BVP was initially ruled out they said late November, early December if I recall correctly. Some on here saying JC 4 weeks. Haven't heard the whole AJ story.

I'd heard that JC's injury is ankle related and not a broken foot and will hopefully be back in a couple weeks.

Until Carter returns our single biggest weakness is in the low post. Period
Our current alternatives are just not strong enough to handle our opponents.

JC still in the boot. Watched AJ get up shots with the off hand. Good to see he is working on something while recovering his dominant limb. BVP looks like he had progressed to weight bearing. Got rid of the scooter. Rehab awaits.
