Recently read a post here about the MAC and how it used to be.... Ran across this Youtube of Ohio in the Balls Archives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eM1SccSS60

Crowds, NBA bound players, Officiating....there is a lot to look at here. 20 years ago. Seems like yesterday to me but it is a good look back. Today's students don't have much feel for this. Too bad. Gamedays were pretty special back then

Man, those were the days, eh? Gary Trent, Geno Ford, Antonio Daniels, Bonzi Wells, Earl Boykins (with D. Dials and B. Tolbert), Devin Davis, Saddi Washington, Nate Huffman, Sczerbiak, etc...

And Bonzi was just a freshman in that video and scored 40. Loved the full house - all the way to the rafters.

Looking at those from 75' I am amazed by the lines on the court at old Irving Gym. School of physical education used the gym daily and I remember many courts with lines painted but I would bet in the 351 schools in D1 now you would not find that much clutter. It was present in the gyms overseas as those hand every sport from team handball to Pro Volley painted on the court. We like a clean look for TV these days. "Branding"

The archives there are spectacular. I could spend days just looking at the old HS games they have archived. Helps to know many of the players and still see them occasionally. Seeing Ray McCallum, Bonzi, Chandler and his Pops over the last 24 hours we got to relive a few of the games from the archives.

For the record.... Chandler Thompson, Bonzi and Cedric VanLeer (Fiami) all Bearcats returned to coach Muncie Central this year as the school and program have fallen on hard times. Ray is home for his father's funeral but like all Bearcats, stopped in and visited. http://www.thestarpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2018... /

What was the price of a sideline ticket at Ball State back in 1995? Five dollars maybe. The impact of seat licenses in mid major basketball is more revenue but less fans in the stands. Somehow there needs to be a happy medium in place where a limited number of face value sideline tickets are available to ensure there is game energy at courtside.
