Wow....I get they are student reporters, but man....if you cover this team on a regular basis..how do you base an entire CMU preview article trying to figure out why James Gollon isn't averaging double-figures? Umm....because he shouldn't be playing more than 5-8 minutes per game and this isn't HS basketball in Wisconsin. #GoodLord #13Months

Have to disagree on Golon. He brings energy which we badly need. He wants to drive to the hoop but too many of his teammates are in his way. He's good for points every time he drives and shoots because he doesn't miss from the line. For anyone who has played on a school team and been in the position of looking over your shoulder to see if someone is at the scorer's table ready to take your place, it's very difficult to play well and gain confidence. Play the kid more.
I would like to see James shoot more, I think he's got a sweet release and if he can get confidence and dial it in he will contribute. Catch and shoot, less fakes, get hot. He's a shooter and I agree with Alan, he plays hard and right now needs more minutes.

Hard to believe we are favored by 2pts.
The way we are playing along with our injuries we will be real lucky to stay within 10 pts much less win.

I don’t like our chance today, because I have a hunch we win this one and would take us -2.

Whatever. I'm going tomorrow. You should too.

Charcuterie at Jackie O's anyone?
I might be at JOs for a meeting circa 2:00, would be nice to say hello and maybe talk some X&Os.
Just found out my meeting is at Catalyst Cafe, not JOs. :(

I remember Bobcatsquared using his large hind end to gain good position down low, but also having a huge problem finishing.

I just took another look at our roster and I see 7 players that I haven't seen play this year.
We only have about 8 that see any action the rest are wasted scholarships, wasted.
We better hope next years recruits are better than today bench warmers. Also need Carter and Dartis fully healthy or we are in for a few loosing seasons.

Do you watch games? I ask because those aren't wasted scholarships, they're hurt players. C'mon man.

What did he say?
Bobcats go up by 13 with 12+ minutes left and he says "That might put them away' or something similar to that!

The players you are seeing are either hurt or walkons. The only scholarship player not playing even though he is healthy is Dozier

Gritty effort. Talk about a tough and disheartening loss in a year where we're searching for something ANYTHING to go right and build on.

Oof.

I don't think missing half your free throws, including all of them when game is on the line, qualifies as gritty.

Of course you don't.....

Edit... To clarify, I feel like gritty effort can be separate from made or not made free throws.

Win or go home. This is a tee ball league, he makes over a half million dollars.

Good, please go home and take your non-support of kids who are playing hurt, and busting their tails representing my Alma mater with you.

Certainly not. You wouldn't be wrong to point to our 16-31 performance from the line as a/the reason for the loss.

However, I think it was pretty gritty that we had a lead on a team that housed us in their building just a couple weeks ago with only a 7 man rotation (2 of those playing injured) - with no Mickle or Dartis. And then to have the game go 2OT so short-handed and having our current best player Kirk foul out. Only so much you can overcome with grit and determination.

Also gritty - we had 3 assists in the debacle in BG. Today? 24.
Also gritty - we were only out-rebounded 42-38 and actually won the rebounding battle until late in 2OT.

I didn't say it was "good". This team is certainly not that. However, it definitely qualifies as gritty.

Comprehension is key. I support the program that is why I support a coaching change if Saul can not get it done next year. I believe that we can do better. This year has been crazy with all of the injuries. This should be a year that our normal reserves will get valuable experience. Saul is not the program, he is a coach that was hired to win.

You're right. I don't comprehend most of your ramblings and your obsession with the word mediocre.
