Weird line...something fishy.
Agreed - I would have assumed it to be 2pt dogs.

Kent is sending all non-essential staff home at noon today. Wonder if the game might get postponed...

I have my doubts, just because Ohio is already there, but I wonder - what about the rest of people running game day, referees, etc? I'm not familiar with how that is often handled in a case like this. I know one thing, it's probably gonna be a very light crowd in the MAC Center.

I see a forecast of 3-5 inches of snow, which isn't much for up there, is it? Of course the kicker will be ice all over the state. Stay safe to those to venture out!

You would be surprised who Universities and especially Athletic Departments call "essential staff".

I doubt the game will be called off especially since our team arrived yesterday.

Remember that game we played at Eastern Michigan in the last decade or so in a snow storm and there were about 12 people in the arena — about five fewer than usual?

It's a nationally televised cable game. If the refs can make it, you betcha it gets played - even if the arena is almost empty.

[quote]WEATHER UPDATE: Tonight’s Men’s Basketball game vs. Ohio is still scheduled to be played. You can watch on @CBSSportsNet and listen on @640whlo. Please be safe traveling to and from the game. The University grounds crew will be working continuously to keep the roads safe.[/OUTER_QUOTE]

I live about 20 minutes from the MACC. It’s been sleeting for a few hours and just changing over to snow now. Be safe to who ever is traveling.

All of the high school games around here are cancelled, so at least I get to watch Ohio on TV tonight.

I'm tuning in tonight as I have all year. I haven't commented on here often but I've been reading up on everyone's opinions and predictions. I love getting on here and seeing so many people as passionate about the Bobcats as me. I'm back living in Kentucky now and I'm disgusted more and more everyday with these obnoxious UK fans.

As far as this season goes, I have been as frustrated as everyone else on this board. Seeing our guys play with a lack of passion at times has been discouraging. However, I also realize how impactful injuries have been on our team this year. I hate seeing us so decimated with injury. What's hard for me is knowing just how good we could be if we were a hundred percent healthy. Not having Jason down low hurts us and I know you all haven't seen him just yet but Ben Van der Plas is going to be special if he can stay healthy. He would have been a key contributor on our team this year if he didn't get hurt.

I know you've heard this before but stay patient with the guys this year and let's see if we can get hot in March. At the end of the day, that's what matters in the MAC after all because no one is getting an at large bid.

Here's to a Ohio victory at Kent!

Oh man. UK basketball fans are the worst. On three different occasions, I've had negative experiences with them (when we were at Rupp arena in 94, when they played at the Convo in the late 90s, and some other athletic event). So different from Louisville, where everyone I've met there was pretty friendly.

Post more often!

I deal with fans from every SEC school. You think UK basketball fans are bad? At least they have a ranked team to sort of back up their boastful ways. On the other hand, the University of Tennessee went 4-8 in football this season and fired yet another coach. Ask them how it feels to get blown out by Vandy in football the last couple of years and see how they act.

You know what the difference is between a porcupine and Neyland Stadium at UT?

The porcupine has 100,000 pricks...... ON THE OUTSIDE!! (rimshot here)

Tough loss tonight. A few thoughts:

1. I hope Doug is okay for the long run with his knee. I know he came back in, but he may have just toughed it out.

2. Good to see Gavin get out of his shooting slump in the second half. If that can continue we will be much better off.

3. Saul should have a better way of stopping these droughts than waiting until we are down ~12 points to call a TO.

Will never understand how Dartis can go 7 or more minutes without getting off a shot in a game. Makes no sense, but Saul can't figure out how to change it. Mickle can't miss that layup late...inexcusable. Looking like a 4-14 conference record. Thank god for Kirk...he's what keeps me interested at this point.

Hate to think where this team would be w/o the late signing of Kirk. Is one of our better rebounders (led the team with 7 boards tonight), clutch from the line, tough taking the ball to the hoop.

He's been getting some heat here for his playmaking and he can probably improve in this area. However, he has had numerous nice passes setting up close range shots this season that were either bobbled by his teammate or his teammate wasn't able to finish around the rim (the most notable being Mickle late in tonight's game). There also have been more than a few missed open threes that were set up by Kirk.

We might have to go from small to even smaller and pair Kirk and Butler up more the rest of the season.

Tough loss. As well as Laster has played this year he had a rough night and we can't have that happen often if we want to win games. Block had decent offensive game; hope it restores some confidence. And agree, Kevin has to finish on that late layup.

Hate games like this that you can basically look at one or two plays and say "that's where we lost." Again, turnovers and missed bunnies killed the first half and a few more missed bunnies down the stretch.

Hate the play call, whatever it was coming out of the timeout. Was hoping for a Kirk drive to the tin with an option for a kick out or dump off.

Positives: Butler looked good again. Pretty sure he made every shot he took. Kirk is getting more comfortable in his shooting stroke. Gavin finally got his back and looked like a leader on the defensive end.

Saul said on the radio after the game that basically that was the plan, only for Laster, the senior. He noted there was back side action going on to give options on the drive. Saul said he thought Laster got a step on his defender but decided to pull up and fade away instead of continuing to the hoop. He was clearly not happy with that decision but said Laster would have future chances to win games.

Laster's man got picked on the double screen but Zabo picked him up at the top and shadowed him step for step to the right wing plus two Kent guys rotated out that way. Laster didn't have anywhere to go but to stop and shoot a jumper.

If there's one thing that is a constant, it's us struggling with the 'last shot', whether it be at half or end of games. I cringe every time it's under 30 seconds and we call a timeout with the ball. It's not just today, and that's not the reason we lost. We really struggle at this, for whatever reason. Our possessions seem poorest at this point of the game. I wonder if it's because we screw up our flow by waiting until a particular moment (~7 seconds) to try to create the play instead of playing the full 30 and getting the points when the play allows.

I ranted and stomped to the point all my dogs and cats ran away when that happened. I totally agree. Its to the point that they're better served just letting the team just play it out without a timeout, because the plays in the huddle aren't accomplishing anything.

And talking about decisions, how about leaving Kent in the middle of a big snow storm after the game?

Mickle looked like he got away with a walk on the missed layup which made missing the layup hurt even more. Saul needs to consider keeping one last TO for the end of games. He used his last TO too soon at WKU last season also and it cost the Bobcats the game. And to continue the rant, that kid who looks like Jesus did nothing while he was in. Is he a walk-on?
