I didn't get a chance to watch the game (apparently that was a good thing for me). It looks like he saw his first action of the year with 11 minutes. He only scored 2 points, both on FTs, and missed all three FGs attempted.

My question is more about how he looked physically. Did he seem to move around well? The fact that he is already getting 11 minutes in his first game back is encouraging. Doug and Mickle need some backup in the post for sure.

Probably about what you would expect. A little timid with the ball. Not that physical underneath and got pushed around a couple times. I thought he moved around pretty well for his size. Two of the threes he took were open shots, one which he kind of did a "step back and fade" that fell short.

Thanks for the info. Sounds about what you would expect for a freshman who has missed half of the year. I hope to watch the game on Saturday and get a look at him for myself.

No rebounds in 11 minutes surprises me. Then again, this may not be the best game to really gauge much of anything.

I thought Gareri moved pretty well. Ellis Dozier looks lost when he's on the court. He looks like he's anxious and out of control. AJ never looked like that the other night. He looked under control and when he was doubled on the perimeter he made solid cross court passes or decisions. His shots will come. They weren't perfect but they were definitely not "Culver-esque."

I've seen him in practice too. Very fluid, athletic. He will help us once he gets his game wind and adjusts to the speed of the game. I agree he needs to work on being a force inside but I think he will get there. As for his shooting, hes a very good perimeter shooter. But he starts to come up short when he gets tired. He's definitely not a recruiting mistake.

Thanks for the input Jeff. I've been wondering about what we might hope to see from him.

I saw him get a minute or two in the first half. Don't remember seeing him in the 2nd half, even when we emptied our bench at the end. Any idea why he didn't see more time?

Empty the bench time should be for the empty the bench guys = guys that don't get in other times at all

Yes, I also thought he would get more minutes today. Saul will need to work him in by expanding his rotation. He tends to like 7-8 players. A player can’t really develop or show what they can do in 2 minutes. I would hate to see him sit and get limited minutes this season. Golllon played only 7mins.

I was more surprised that Dozier came in with 2-3 minutes left instead of Gareri. That occurred before the walk-ons came in.

AJ played for my high school so I saw a lot of him the past few years. He has tons of ability, terrific range and is the literal definition of a stretch 4. Just with that skill set he will contribute and be a decent player for you guys. However if he toughens up to a level where he can bang in the paint, he could be an outstanding player going forward.

It's all up to AJ

East High grad here. When AJ was at Ellet did he play in the paint much or hang around the outside?
Hi Alan, East has really stepped it up in football the last couple of seasons. The best they've been since the Dom Patella days

He could play in the paint but was certainly not a banger. He demonstrated the ability to put it on the floor and drive but mostly against shorter and outclassed players.It's a big jump to do it against legit D1 talent. IMO, his best asset was his ability to step out and shoot. He'll be a match up problem for some teams to account for.

Rooting like Hell for the kid to be successful but he'll need to get stronger to be an inside force on both ends of the floor at this level.

Wow - if you remember Dom you're a lot older than I thought. Played for Dom back in 1970 - seems like forever ago. Agree with your assessment of AJ. That said, he does appear to be a very good passer.
