Ted, is this game definitely on ESPN3? I thought I read somewhere that home games will not be on ESPN3 when students are on break and winter semester doesn't begin until mid-January.
Russ mentioned during the coaches show this week that he and Ryan Boyd will give the call for this game on ESPN3,
That is correct. Marty Bannister will have the radio call.
+1 I really like the way he calls games. Consummate professional. I always take my radio to the game and listen while I watch in person.

Working on computer now. Can't get the ESPN app on DirecTV to work though for some reason. Game started late evidently due to women going OT

Great bounce back performance. Block didn’t have the best shooting performance, but he made a couple down the stretch. We will need him going forward, I am glad that he was able to score down the stretch. If we can get he and Dartis going, we can win the MAC.

I will repeat it. I know the MAC games are a given but no reason to play in Athens in Dec or Jan when students are gone. Go play tourneys or on the road. I have been to UC and XU games this year and being in a city makes a big difference with home crowds. Their students show up cause many live hereand the loyal city fans are there too. That just won't happen when you are in Athens. On some ESPN3 games the lat 6 weeks the Convo has looked and sounded like a morgue!

That is a great idea. The tournaments can give the players the confidence that they need going into MAC play, plus we can play a much better out of conference schedule.

Agree! Much better performance from the bobcat team as they came out early playing with a sense of urgency. Still need to reduce the amount of turnovers. Way to snatch a Mac win.

Dartis still dealing with hip pain issues - very evident several times today - but he is fighting through it

Bobcats did a much better job today of giving that extra effort, making the hustle plays . Only negative was the turnovers . But the effort was there bigtime.

Key play of the game was a Darts rebound at about the 14 minute mark of the second half surrounded by 3 or 4 Huskies. NIU had cut the lead to six and had they rebounded that ball and gone down and scored, who knows what may have happened. We go down and score 3 and go up by nine and NIU never got closer than 6 again. Big rebound.

And two other observations. The intensity for the first 5 minutes was sky high. No team can do that for 40 minutes but we need that on a more consistent basis if a top four seed is the goal.

Second, Doug Taylor must have had one heck of a breakfast Saturday. He actually looked mean on a couple of occasions and clearly "said" to those driving to the hoop in the second half, "don't bring that shit in here." It was fun to watch.

I agree with you, Doug had a strong game. That's the sort of Doug Ohio needs more often.

Best part of Saturday's game was having the visiting team not score its first point until after the under 16-minute time out. Lots of sheep standing a long time in the Convo!!

A tradition that won't go away.

But one that needs to because it's run it's course. It's an excitement drain rather than a creator.

The funny thing is that those who were standing sat down at the 16 minute time out and HAD to be reminded to stand up when play began. CMU has the same dumb "tradition" and had about the same number of sheep standing. I agree country it needs to go away. I hear for the right amount Lou will forget to ask/tell people to stand up.

we've become one of the worst fanbases in all of college athletics. There is no noise at our basketball or football games. You can't blame the athletic department for trying something. I'll stand all game if I don't have to worry about blocking others (yes even at my height).

Alan, I know you just don't like the stand for d thing, but it's like really become a thing with you. Almost an obsession. Do you lose sleep over this?

Nope, no lost sleep and I didn't bring it up this time. Like you, I played basketball for a long time and would still be playing had I not broken my leg and spent seven months in a cast. As a player, if I was in the opponent's gym and their fans were standing to support their team in keeping us from scoring, I would try extra hard to score that first point as soon as possible just to make those folks sit down - a kind of "in your face" moment or whatever the players call it today. My bet is that plenty of players who come into the Convo feel the same way plus as someone previously said, there is almost a sigh of relief when the other team scores because "we can now sit down."

And did someone mention 7066. I couldn't resist. :)

Alan, didn't you know that it's more healthy to stand than sit?

Sitting is the new smoking

Jeff - as the devoted and respected Bobcat fan that you are, I would encourage you to do two things - 1) don't stand for D any longer and encourage those who sit near you to do the same and 2) write a short but pointed email to Jim Schaus explaining why you feel this "tradition" needs to go.

In fact if enough people will do that in an appropriate and respectful way, perhaps he'll get the message and do away with it. in this upcoming challenging year of securing donations, no athletic administrator can afford to alienate their fan base.

I sit in Schaus' section and I definitely SIT in his section. The "tradition" makes me cringe every time, and it's even more painful in the second half.

Maybe disgruntled fans should kneel instead of stand.
