Ton of smart basketball people on this board. Not sure how anyone can justify his PT and ever getting into the game before Butler. He's not MAC ready. Might have worked in HS in Wisconsin...but not here.
Not sure why Gollon has become the target of some of the more "passionate" fans on this board, but he has out played Butler by every metric possible this year. I think Butler can be a good player for us, but he isn't quite ready yet.
Here are areas where Gollon has better stats than Butler so far this year, followed by Gollon's team rank in ().
eFG% (3rd), TS% (1st), OR% (4th), DR% (2nd), Assist% (4th), TO% (2nd to last), Block% (3rd), Steal% (3rd), Fouls Drawn per 40 (3rd), FT% (1st- 93%), 2pt% (3rd), 3pt% (5th)
If anything I think Gollon should be playing more. I think Saul needs to find a way to get him more confidence as he has actually been pretty good in short spurts, although admittedly his best games came closer to the beginning of the year than now.
If you look at his game logs we actually had some of our biggest wins of the year when he got a lot of run. 28 minutes against Indiana State including most of the 2nd half comeback and OT periods. He also scored 13 points against Western Kentucky in what was by far our best win of the season.
He's definitely not consistent enough yet, but he has shown that given a chance he can be a useful player.
