This was the worst night of basketball I've watched in a long time.

1. This OU debacle with whatever ESPN3 was calling a color analyst

2. The Cavs looked horrible vs. an undermanned Detroit team and Love breaks his hand.

3. Kentucky is about to go down at Rupp to a losing Vanderbilt team, but Vanderbilt FOULS UK WITH 2 SECONDS TO GO in the backcourt, to allow UK to hit game-tying FTs and send to OT for the win.

4. Speaking of FTs, Baylor just has to hit theirs to upset the other OU, but can't hit anything. Oklahoma narrowly avoids the upset.

That's four badly played basketball games I watched.

Bad.
There was/is a full moon last night and this morning.

I agree. Basketball, by it's very name, is about getting the ball in the basket. The 'Cats don't even seem to be able to do that. This is horrible. I have never seen a worse performance from an Ohio Bobcats team.
I don't see any continuity or any offensive toughness. Kirk is the only guy who drives. Block has had one good game (Kent) since his heroics against Indiana State and Laster and Dartis look lost for some reason.
Does anyone truly believe Kirk stays in this program after this season?
While he is a driver, Kirk does not appear to be a passer. He is apparently not getting the message about passing to teammates. I did not watch the post game press conference, but the Post article says Saul mentions 13 passes in 11 possessions at one point. They are apparently not doing in the games what they are doing well in practice. I don’t think just the injuries are the problem. He has lost the team. The proof is the team on the floor not following his instructions.
I made the comment watching it live that TK appeared to take a "get mine" attitude late in the game. No passing, waving off teammates looking to set picks. Saul sort of brought it up in the interview with Russ that the lack of PG assists and passing was a problem.

I love TK for what he brings, and he's just a freshman, but he doesn't seem to get his teammates involved all that well. I even noticed many possessions with Gavin bringing the ball up the floor and initiating some semblance of offense while TK was on the floor. Conscious decision by Saul to send a message that the PG needs to distribute? Maybe. Maybe it was nothing.

It was definitely evident, but on a night where you score only 19 points in the first half, can you really blame TK for that? Nobody else was hitting shots, someone had to try and get easy ones in the paint.

Six players -- Mickle, Laster, Dartis, Taylor, Dozier and Butler -- combined to go 0-12 in the first half with 3 points scored.

I've notice the same thing. TK seems like our best offensive threat, especially in driving to the basket. If he doesn't make the basket he very frequently gets fouled. If he could learn to make the basket and get fouled, he might start to remind me of Bill Whaley (reference only really old guys will get). However, he doesn't distribute well. He's no DJ in that category. I think ultimately he won't be a point guard but a shooting guard, but this year he's had to try to be a little of everything. I agree that at times Block has been our best point guard. That's weird, but it's the way I've seen it at times. We have a real mess on our hands this year. I'm usually an optimist, but I don't see this year ending well. I'm optimist for next year, if he we can get Carter back and get the rest of the returning team healthy, including BVP.

I'm actually more concerned with TK's propensity for turnovers more than his lack of assists, and there is a major difference in that.

He just has an aggressive style of play and always looks for the cutting edge to make an impact. For better or worse, he's had some expected freshmen year mistakes. Some of the stuff he can clean up with better decision making for sure.

But TK's ability to get to the rim will eventually open up things for his teammates and hopefully learning in this "trial by fire" year that we've had, in the future it's going to be a lot easier for him. I don't think we're ever going to see him with eye-popping assist numbers. But what he can do is make his teammates better by cutting down on the TOs and making the extra pass, or the pass that leads to the assist.
