Well, here goes nothing:

1. Dads weekend - I was funding a night of dinner and beer drinking per my usual Dad's weekend routine. We made it to the CI at the end of the evening. My son blew chunks. I'm a bad, bad father.

2. During my Bobcat days - We were living in Atkinson on "new" south. My buddies and I decided to have a keg party on my birthday (yes, you could have them then...). We drove to Nelsonville to buy a keg of Rolling Rock...it was during a shift change there...they forgot to charge me. We drove back to Athens (with keg), gave the money we had collected to 3 other buddies, who then drove to Nelsonville and bought a keg of Rolling Rock. Epic party...still feel the least bit bad about that one.

3. 1983 NCAA Tournament - Ohio wins first round game against Illinois State on St. Patrick's Day, in their green uniforms, on a last second prayer by Tatum. My room mate and I had an exam earlier that day. Lots of celebratory Guinness followed by a bad decision...tequila shots. Confirmed report that I went down the CI stairs head-first. Friends thought I was dead. I got up laughing with beer in hand.

That #2 is fantastic!

I had to wait until we got all the way back to South Green before I told my buddies. Knowing those guys, they would have wanted to turn around and get another keg right then, but I knew that would blow our cover!
You sure we were in green unis in that NCAA game?

Confessionals continued:

A. I was also one of the Bowl Bus Chaperones in 2013 when the student body president got arrested. Best three day trip in my life.
B. I had Big Mama's sober once, and I have never been there to eat since.

My favorite Bobcat other than Treg Setty was Andy Kanzig.

I believe that Larry Hunter did, in fact, play out his time at OU and was a good move for our program.

I don't like Dustin Ford

When I was at OU from 94-98 I met many of the players during that era, Ed Sears was and still is the coolest guy I met (Treg Setty is a close second)

I think us having a Joyce on our coaching staff is what is making this year horrible

Travis Wilkins is the most underrated Bobcat in the past 10 years.

I had a final project, worth half of my grade, physically due in my professor's office by 5 p.m. on Friday.

I didn't get it done until 5:15 (printed out at the computer lab).

Lasher's doors were locked at 5.

I snuck in through an open window on the ground floor. No one was there. Saw the stack of reports already turned in and placed mine right in the middle of the stack.

The first time I ever saw highlights from the '83 game was on a random "Amazing Sports Highlights" VHS tape that a friend of mine had (I assume still does). It was a hodge podge of all different sports but somehow Tatum's shot made the cut. Is anyone else familiar with this tape? I first saw it in like 2001 and I am guessing it was from the late 80s.

A big confessional I have is that I had what I thought was a great idea that I never had the stones to bring to life as I was too afraid of getting into a legal mess. It's probably dumb now but at the time I thought it would have been hilarious.

I was a frequent visitor to Bong Hill-mainly just to chill and watch the world go by-nothing too wild.

I had the idea to cut white letters out of plywood and install them on the side of the hill where 32/50 and 33 come together to spell Hollywood, all jagged like in LA. I even had planned buying the materials and doing all of the work here in my dad's shop in Cincinnati so that the cops couldn't go to Carter Lumber trying to find out more info. It all would have been installed under the cover of darkness, for everyone to wake up to the next morning.

Did anyone else on here ever drive out to The Mountaineer Family Restaurant in Parkersburg? I had a group of friends that we would go out at least once a quarter just to get out of town for a few hours.

Was at OU during same time ... the laundry list of "legends" to grace the Convo floor during that era is long ...

Paul Morris
Basra Fahkir
Jimmy Peterson
Nick Terry (the other Terry)
Sanjay Adell
Damion Washington
Matt Jager

But my favorite was Curtis Simmons ... obviously was in G-Trent's shadow. But he was pretty damn good (for MAC standards)

Funny story about a Bobcat player (I'll redact the name to "protect" the innocent) ... said player rolled into the Pit Stop in Nelsonville ... driving his Monte Carlo .... got out and wandered in and asked the attendant if they had any courvoisier. He was slurring pretty bad ... attendant had no idea what he was saying. Player went back out to the car and grabbed an empty bottle of courvoisier and came back in and said "This. Do have any of this?"

The Pit Stop was a magical place.

I will do you one better. I met a player on your list who shall remain nameless who I had to help walk home one night after a few too many Quads at the J-Bar. It was a Thursday night when we had a Saturday game. I remember telling my buddy "This is why we are terrible."

And Simmons was great. I only got to see Mike Reese for a year in person but he was solid as well and unsung.

Please. It's The Junction. It will always be The Junction. ;-)

And yes ... Reese was unsung. Big reason why those Trent teams were so good.

Back to The Junction ... I had 10 Quads my final Quad-night senior year. I think that would constitute as a confessional and "maybe one too many" .... but I lived to tell!

Four times the alcohol in a drink. A wonderful creation by the bar formerly known as The Junction.

The only served them on Thursday nights .... for $2 (if memory serves)

Only on Court St! The place would be jammed pack ... line to get in. My favorite weeknight spot during my OU era.

You could get pretty messed up for about $6.

Two normally did the trick ... three was iffy. Anything after four ... good luck.

Speaking of get lit up for almost nothing but $6...

...I had to stay an extra summer session after graduation to finish up some classes. My buddy and I would go to class at noon or whatever it was, finish up and hit up Red Brick. All summer long, all day, every day, they were serving $1 pints of Bud Light. We would get a nice buzz going in the afternoon and then go do it again later that night. It was definitely the spot to be that summer in the lovely ghost town campus.

Two Questions:

1.About when was this ?

2.What did a "regular" drink cost ?

Definitely my favorite time of the year in Athens. Running the town like no other was awesome in the summer, because you got to know the bartender real darn good. Know the bartenders plus the school year starting meant getting drinks during the year was real easy......

I didn't remember them being available between '94-'98 everyday ... felt like it was only on Thursdays ... maybe that changed after '98? But then again, my memory could serve me wrong?

I worked in the kitchen at a Court Street establishment. We had some regulars that I got to know... most were super kind and I'd hook them up with some extras of course.

Those that weren't, I didn't get paid/tipped enough to deal with their crap so their food would occasionally make a stop on the floor kitchen floor before being served.

I was kind compared to some of my other co-workers.

I was there at the same time. Maybe I just spent enough time there and knew the bartenders and got a good deal. God knows, I spent more time there than I did in class some quarters.

On a warm night during Fall Semester (wanna say 2013?) it was around 2am as I was making my way to get my usual post-bars snack. I hear the clear sound of bongos being played up the street a bit. I didn't think anything of it because its quite common to see various types of music/instruments being played on court during the late hours. I'm passing by Insomnia cookies and there's a guy sitting there, on a bench, free styling away on his bongos. It was none other than Mo N'dour by himself. Just another reason why he's my favorite bball bobcat of all time!
