I think it was SBH who had trouble with Saul putting no restraints on Jaaron Simmons last year. Wasn't sure I agreed with him. However, watching the first half tonight, I'm beginning to think he is putting no restraints on this year's point guard.

Not really any other legitimate options. Trial by fire. Throw em in the deep end.

It's not always pretty (certainly not tonight) but you just hope he grows up quick and is better for the experience. What else are you going to do? (Of course the real answer is recruit a freaking PG so you aren't in this situation with your freshman).

I would think someone on our bench would implore him to stop chucking 3s early in the shot clock.

But, SP is never part of the problem, right? He's just been dealt a bad hand for four years.

Well we did beat Fiami 2 out of 3 I guess. I applaud the effort of certain players, while I question it on others.

Sadly, finally.....we can wrap this dumpster fire of a season.

Lots to prove for this team and coaching staff next year. Gut check time for our administration. Time to put up or shut up IMO.

Poor Saul...so witty and a handsome victim of circumstance....no accountability.

Bad hand, bad luck.....bad recruiting...bad schemes...

Welcome to our Saul Phillips created reality.

Not much more needs to be said about this season. Next year, I'm very concerned about athleticism. Losing Laster and Mickle in this category is going to hurt big time. Glad I was wrong about Mickle. He showed up and exceeded expectations. Miami seems more athletic than us. And we know Buffalo has a ton a guys who can run the floor, plus they have a 4-star recruit coming in.

Next year's recruiting class doesn't appear to be ready to step in and fill a void. And then of course, many questions about Gareri and BVP. Will Carter fully recover? Will Dartis hip injury linger? Block really disappeared offensively these last couple of months. He needs to find his Clemson mojo. The only good thing about this season is that it didn't end with our point guard dribbling out the clock. Reality has set in for Saul. Next season starts right now. #12Months #6YearsRemovedFromLastBigDanceAppearance

I will say, if Carter comes back healthy, Saul can reign in Kirk and even just one of the recruits or BVP works out we should be very good next year.

What will you remember most about this season?

- Worst home loss ever?

- Most points given up in a MAC game ever?

- Not showing up for the win or done match-up against your supposed arch-
rival? Or better yet, assuming that your arch-rival wouldn't make adjustments after you beat them twice in the regular season?

(2) of the (4) Phillips era seasons have ended in one and done MAC tournament exits. (0) of the the (4) season have resulted in a Saturday Cleveland appearance.

It simply is not good enough. Please spare me the apathy that I am sure will come. This University and this fan base deserves competitive competence.

The similarities between the football posters and the basketball posters are amazing.

The Mac will be significantly better next year, the MAC lost 17 of their top 20 players last year. Ball State and Buffalo have great recruits coming in and Akron and Toledo should vastly improve. We need to get better. We need to have some serious player development this off season. Block needs to stalk Tommy Freeman this off season. In my dreams, Dartis should save some money and go play in the Seattle summer league. He can play against some great talent and find out how great players move without the ball.

Huh...there must be posters on the football board and don't believe in accountability and sincerely embrace the trophy culture mentality that has our basketball program thriving.

I can think of one eligible player who couldnt find the floor after a bonus year at a prep school and a red shirt year + 2 regular years. I hate grad transfers, but this scholarship could be used on a better option.

Agree about the MAC looking better for next year. However, I'm not quite sure UT "should vastly improve" with possible MAC POTY Fletcher leaving.

[QUOTE=Townie1977] What will you remember most about this season? [QUOTE]

The guys that kept battling through adversity. Of the guys who could make it on the floor, gimpy, injured or healthy... no one quit, no one complained, no one made excuses and no one gave up and quit playing. That is some pretty good character. Seen a lot of teams with a lot less problems just slump their shoulders and look uninterested.

Thanks. I had some time after cancelling my reservations for the weekend. 4 of 5 sure was really nice, but it sure is nicer to win when it matters. I used to know a guy that really understood how March basketball worked.....wonder what happened to him...

Well said. Their effort is something we can all be proud of.

Things will get better.

Holy hell. Akron was down 27-4 in the first half at Western. Now up 8 with 4 minutes to go.
