Just FYI but I did start the TOS to _____ posts back when Quinnipiac was going on. Not in an Al Gore sort of way, but merits mentioning. Your welcome.
You're welcome (Alan's meme).

I think Ted will have to have a BA Wiki that includes an explanation for newbs that outlines local lore. TOS to..... shorthand for "job opening at"
2nd wiki entry: "TCom Board"
3rd wiki entry: "TCom"

http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20180212/bill-rey...
If you get past the snoozer of an opening paragraph it really gets some legs quick...

...Garfinkel called (O'Shea) “Thunder,″ in honor of some old horse he had once won a bet on.

“It was the summer of 1984 and I had no idea what I was doing,″ O’Shea said. “I wanted to get into coaching, but I had no idea how to go about it. And one day at the camp Garf says to me. ‘Thunder, you’re going to be the associate coach at URI. Go see Brendan [Malone.]’ And that’s how it got done.″
How I wish I woulda known this nickname!
By the time I got to know him at URI, it was apparent few people understood the nuances and culture of the college basketball world any better than O’Shea. I’ve always found him to be incredibly perceptive about the realities of college basketball, and the pressures that come with it.

TOS was a good guy who got a bad rap in Athens, merely because he followed Larry Hunter. He was far from a brilliant basketball coach, but I always enjoyed my interactions with him. Hope he does well in retirement.

To each his own, I can find just as many people who were turned off by his personality and aloofness. In my case, following Larry had nothing to do with it at all. Coaching is a business and they come and go. The next guy up does things on his own merit. What we essentially received was more expensive coach who gave the same 19-20 win results with 1 MAC title, high turnover rates, and a much larger budget.

He also gave us some pretty good memories and lots of good players.

Leon Williams, Jeff Halbert, Sonny Troutman, Tommy Freeman, Jerome Tillman, Mike Allen, Terran Harbut, Whitney Davis, Jeremy Fears, Mychal Green, Kenneth van Kempen, Bubba Walther, DeVaughn Washington, Justin Orr. And who can forget Marin Bota, who rumor has it may still be bouncing around the NBA.

And if that shot by Florida skims the rim instead of falling into their hands he might have joined John Groce, Danny Nee and Jim Snyder in the group of Ohio coaches to have won an NCAA tournament game.
