Who knew that Kent State’s two wins so far in the NIT would be the conference‘s two biggest wins of the year?

W-at St. Bonaventure
W-at Stanford

The 2024-2025 MAC season has been a strange one.

What's really cool is being able to play at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

They got Sister Jean on Wednesday.

Every win must sting Miami all the more.

Maybe the anger is greater in Toledo, though!

Bad attempt at humor on my part. Doesn't Toledo always think they deserve more than they actually do? In basketball, they always seem overhyped and underperforming, particularly at tournament time, and their fans always believe the hype.

Understand Miami's angst. But ...

There is no guarantee the RedHawks, or any other MAC team, would be doing the same. Pure speculation. Had Kent lost, Miami/MAC teams would all say they would have done better.

I get it.

But credit Kent for at least putting blinders on and getting the job done on the road vs. two teams ranked significantly higher per Kenpom. St. Bonaventure has dropped significantly since, outside the Top 100, while Stanford is still in the 80s. Kent is lowest ranked team (105) still in the NIT field.

It's not the Bobcats, or Miami but winning ... even Off-Broadway ... if good for the MAC.

At least this year, they were very down on their team.

Good for Kent, but that’s tough for this Conference.

If you don’t know the sister Jean story, you probably don’t follow college basketball real close. look it up, it’s a great story.

The 2024-2025 MAC season has been a strange one.

CMU beat George Mason
Miami beat Troy
Kent beat Arkansas State (plus the above) all Top 100 KenPom wins.

Interesting ... the MAC's best team (Akron) did not defeat one team ranked ahead of them (Kenpom/NET) but knocked out almost every team below them.
