Perhaps not this year, but in the future shouldn’t WMU be in the mix annually for the championship? As I recall they announced a $550 million gift last year. While most of it was going to their medical school and a few undergraduate programs, there was $50 million set aside for “athletics.” Presumably, some of this will be used to pay athletes, either through the NIL ruse, or directly to players as employees, if that comes about.

My guess is, they put the bulk of that $$$ into football. In their mind, they are a football school. Which stinks, because of the three Michigans, I'd take WMU's basketball history (overall) first though I admit EMU's NCAA Tournament runs in 80s and 90s sit at the top of the list.

Weird that it took him so long to find a home. Rumors of teams not willing to take chances on folks with academics/eligibility issues seems the most logical but I have no inside information one way or the other.

From Twitter -- Jalen Sullinger is no longer with Furman apparently. No big sources are on it, but he isn't on Furman's roster page anymore. Something to monitor.

Is there any path for him to return to Kent?

So where is the kid going to land? His uncle (Julian Sullinger) is now coaching at Duquesne, and all of their guards graduated after last season.

Does he look for a return to the MAC; Akron, Toledo, Ohio, Kent again?

We have plenty of better point guards.

Thomas Worthington grad Jalen Sullinger, who had transferred to play basketball at Furman, has re-enrolled as a full-time student at Kent State and will redshirt before playing his senior session in 2025-26, according to Golden Flash Report.— Steve Blackledge (@BlackiePreps) https://twitter.com/BlackiePreps/status/18277677749883373...
Really amazing ... and smart. Basically a 'portal' recruit for next season who knows the system, has a year to refine his game, and has averaged 16ppg already in the MAC.

And go to class so he can actually qualify to play (which he probably didn't do at Furman). Will he have to pay back his NIL stipend?

He is redshirting for a reason 😎. And under current rules, no he won’t pay anything back, because NIL cannot be tied (by law) to performance.

So he gets to keep NIL from Furman ... did he get (more) NIL from Kent to return?

Not a bad way to earn $$$ if you can get it.

Basically gets paid to sit out a season. Nice.

MODS....with the portal 2025 thread pinned ...can you unpin this one to avoid confusion so people don't make 2025 portal posts in this thread?

Thanks
