This quote from Coach Steele in the Rocky Top Insider, doesn't make it sound like he's looking for another job:

"It does make me feel proud where we were, but we’re not done yet, though. We’re not where we were, but we’re not where we want to be yet, either. My goal is to get this thing to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. Fell short of that goal this year, but we’ll be back. I’m very, very, very confident of that.”

And, as has been reported, his wife's family is very wealthy so a P4's Brink's Truck may have less appeald than it normally would. One never knows for sure, but it appears that Miami may have what all MAC schools hope for -- a really good coach who stays for the long term.

Found this interesting quote on the "interwebs," as everyone's favorite dogfaced grunt would say (aka oldkatz):

Travis Steele has made it clear that he is committed to Miami University. He stated that the idea of leaving the program is "the furthest thing from the truth." This reflects his dedication to the team and the community.

If this is true, it'll raise the bar for the rest of the MAC, especially for Oxford Tech's arch rival! smiley

Looking forward to revisiting this in about four days when the furthest thing from the truth becomes truth.

Maybe I am misremembering, but I thought Miami offered him an extension earlier this year? Am I wrong on that?

He’s from the region, wife from the area, been in the area for a long time and is independently wealthy. He’s got no desire to leave his home and doesn’t need to.

what happens if bill self leaves kansas and they offer travis? how is travis as a coach compared to herb sendek or charlie coles. i see that he gets a lot out of his players like charlie coles did. pete suder is very micheal bramos like. but herb sendek recruited better players. herb brought in players like jamie mahaffey and damon frierson, and devin davis. herb also scheduled stronger non conference teams. like tennesee and xavier.and his teams got an at large twice. plus one of those at large teams went to the sweet sixteen i say travis should schedule teams like duke, kentucky, and michigan state and indiana.

Well, now you’re talking something totally different. But the chance of Kansas offering Travis steel is pretty much equivalent to you coming over and cleaning my Blackstone after dinner tonight. If it happens, that’s absolutely awesome for Travis Steele, and for me.

With the Butler job out of the equation -- and the open secret that Steele's wife doesn't want to move from Cincinnati -- I don't see any opening this cycle that he'd necessarily leave for.

I know that it's really, really, really hard to believe, but he seems to love Miami and Oxford. How anyone could love that armpit of the State of Ohio is beyond me, but that seems to be the case according to several reliable reports.

realistically kansas will never offer steel a job. but we gotta wonder what might happen if he does get an offer from someone. he is very much like charlie coles. he gets a lot from his players

Let's see what doors open if North Carolina genuinely is going to go after someone in Indianapolis this weekend. If they do, there will be a ton of ricochet effects off of that and could put Steele in play for say the 4th or 5th job of said butterfly effect. If North Carolina goes after Donovan, gonna be a pretty quiet offseason.....
