Without Kelly or Elliott, the Suder/Elmer matchups look bleak.

Hadaway finds his inner Chi and goes 25 and 12. Pavs hits for 20 and 10 assists. Javaan says "eat this Woolfunk" and goes 15 and 11. Sheldon hits three 3s, Walking Bucket has two 3s and Kuany stuffs Elmer twice. Toss in a pair of 3s from Devon Baker..errrr....Conners and we win this going away. "BRICK THIS!"

This would be nice! But, I'm afraid that the word "brick" might be the keyword, and not in the sense of Athens' paving bricks or Oxford's brick walkways.

Unfortunately I agree with you...I am trying to manifest my dreams :)

I am starting to take on the personality of our team. The other day a guy rudely stepped in front of me at McDonald's so I hip checked him into the Play Place and stared him down. Then at Wal Mart I got 3 dollars off something I thought was full price and I threw up the 3-sign to the woman working the self-checkout. Did you know handcuffs are surprisingly restrictive?

I find myself doing the same thing. Dominated my buddy’s 8-year old son in nerf hoops last week and gave him the “too small” sign after dunking on his head for the winning basket.

Also…did the “shoot it into my veins” gesture two nights ago after throwing a plastic bottle from the kitchen table into the trash can from 9 feet away. Nothing but net.

Right now, their basement is probably close to our ceiling. If I had to draw it up, I think our ceiling is probably at like 70. Their basement is at 60.

Small overlap that will give us a chance, like Buffalo who nearly beat them twice, but we need to play our ass off and hit a bunch of 3's, we can keep it close if we're clicking on all cylinders - but they need to have a really off night - and then we'll be gutted by the referees like seems to keep happening for them. If we play the way we have been - they'll blow our doors off. Theres a world where we keep it close - but that world is at home in Athens. At Miami... in the midst of this run... Sellout... Friday night on ESPN... they won't go quietly.

To me it boils down to our Big 3. Do Pavs, Simmons and Hadaway all play big-time, not whine and control their emotions? If so we can win.

Our only shot is limiting their runs. An old coach of mine used to say every pregame, "basketball is a game of runs, we have to weather the storm". Miami is going to go on scoring runs in this game, is it going to be a 24-4 run or is it going to be a 10-2 run? How do we respond to them getting hot? Unfortunately, our body of work seems to indicate we'll fold under pressure and let things get ugly. Key to the game: bend don't break.

People aren't gonna like this - but I'm sending in Evans (I'm still not his relative). You got 5 fouls brother. Use them. Set the tone early. I want them to fight, not literally, but show a little nut. We're not backing down. Get them to back down. Hesitate. Am I about to catch an elbow? I want to box dudes out into the 4th row. If there is a whistle and a player takes one of those after the play bunnies. Send that shit into orbit. And then hopefully the heavens open up and we start raining 3's. I'm fine with losing, we're gonna be a big underdog, I'm not fine losing with the same lack of effort and life we've shown.

OHIO to pick up a lot of real estate just before midnight on Friday after a cold shooting streak hits the home team and the OHIO bigs just bang in for 2 pointer after two pointer and a host of offensive rebounds.

As Coach Solich would say, "I want to see how tough we are"..

Go Bobcats beat Oxford.

Thanks for posting. You do a great job with the pod.

There was a JJ Kelly mention at end of interview but no mention if he's playing Friday night. Any insight? JJ hurt his ankle at ODU and we've gone all week not knowing if he's playing against Miami.

Thanks

Miami is good. Definitely better than us. But they aren't unbeatable. They aren't even the best team in the MAC (that would be Akron). I'm not saying they dont beat us. They likely do. I'm just saying its not like were playing Duke here.

We could legit beat them in Athens or Cleveland.

They're really living high on the hog right now. Their weak schedule built so much confidence, that we definitely don't have, and in-turn has helped them build an insane amount of self-confidence in close games, teams are on edge playing them, they get weak calls at the end of games, they take chances while teams play stiff. Buffalo nearly knocked them off, twice. We beat the brakes off Buffalo. Theres no reason we can't beat them. They're not invincible. They struggled with teams we beat. The difference is they're cruising. We're playing with our heads down. They can brush off so much, because their living on cloud nine. Every problem we have is magnified and exacerbated. I'm jealous of them, and I don't like it, and it's really gone to show how much that team belives in themselves. And they built that belief crapping on D3 teams while we got hammered by Louisville. We're not a great team, we're an average team. But we're playing with our heads low, we're stuck in quicksand. They're not a great team either, they're a good, solid team. But they're playing with the confidence of the 2016 Cavs. Which elevates them so much. I've shifted from jealousy and dismissal into hey man, this is kinda cool - they play so well as a TEAM. A team that will lose in Athens come March.

I think a key word in your little essay above is "team." That's one thing that I've noticed when I've watched Miami play this season. They play as a team – very unselfish. They distributed the ball very well, and each player seems to know his role and the role of his teammates.

My biggest knock on Boals and the team from the beginning. Zero leadership. Zero role definition. Cause nobody wants to follow a 13-12 leader. Everyone wants to point fingers. Jack is our best player, but I don't think he'd even say hes a leader. He's a good scorer. But he's not holding people accountable. He's not huddling the offense and getting people focused. He's not looking at people in the face and saying THIS SHOT IS MINE. I GOT THIS. Everyone just wants to get their shots up. Zero flow to the offense. Zero leadership. Zero accountability.

Hadaway should be the leader, but he's not a leader. He's a 13 year old in a 6'9" body.
Sheldon should be the leader, but he couldn't throw it into the ocean from the pier.
Simmons can try to lead, but he's been here for six months.
Jack NEEDS to lead, but I haven't seen it.

Boals needs to be the leader, but I think there is just so much finger pointing going on amidst a .500 season they've lost all focus, all drive, all accountability and he's likely at a point where he doesn't know how to lead this team either, because they don't listen, they dont hustle. And his 'lack of set offense' offense can't work with a team that has no leadership or defined roles.

If they survive a play-in game 30 miles away in Dayton and have to play one of the middle-of-the-pack SEC teams like Alabama,Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Missouri in the real first round...fiami will get beat like a rented mule. I for one will laugh at that after they didn't play a single decent team out of conference.

Or they could end up in the NIT vs SF Austin or Belmont or some other mid who dodged playing any real competition in the pre-conference.

I'm not sure why you are so sure about that. This team can shoot it from anywhere on the floor. Last I checked, putting ball in basket is pretty important in "basket" ball.

Hmm . . . more important than throwing elbows, trash talking refs, getting in fights, and showing off hanging on the rim?

What an opportunity for a real big win! I guess I just hope we play them close. More likely, we will probably shit the floor and get blown out.
