Please defend that asinine practice as NO OTHER SCHOOL HAS that practice, please tell me how that has worked so far?????

This by far shows that you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what you are talking about! I played D1 ball and our practices were tough . From what I have read their practices seem pretty standard. Have you been around to other D1 practices? You do realize that it takes some time to rebuild a program correct? I don't know Smith personally but he was at Purdue and at Creighton...I am sure he is incorporating what they did there...which were D1 SCHOOLS
Rebuild? This program is going down, not up!

You are delusional if you believe a program can be rebuilt in one year.

Your delusional if you think the program was that horrid. Was not in great shape, but was a lot better off than it is now!

Can't disagree...Looks awful but Coach Smith came into a program that had not recruited much (which happens when a coach is leaving) and had a lot of holes. From what I have heard he is very passionate about baseball and that hasn't been the norm here. Takes more than one year to "change" the "atmosphere" of a program. Do you blame the coaches on a dropped fly ball that should have been caught?

Last coaches produced more wins with same players.

Does anyone know how many times this season has Ohio been retired with the bases left loaded? Last season was around 500 times (and that's a conservative guess)

Last coaches also showed their genitals to players, maybe that's what the new coaches should do!

This proves absolutely no point, but it seems like we are more or less looking to just start petty arguments to avoid the fact we are already down 10-0 in the third today.
This is just ugly! No fight in this ball club! 11-2 now in the 4th. The 1st was an ugly an inning as I've ever sat through.

There are 22 underclassmen on this team. Pretty sure Carbone didn't win with kids that weren't on the team when he was here.

Also, long-time coaches often leave just before things are about to drop off and unfortunately leave that for someone else. It happens in all sports at all levels. If you know the next year's team isn't going to be up to regular standards and you're at the end of your career anyway, it seems like a good time to get out.

Yes, because if it's a habit, that kid doesn't deserve a chance to play. That is a high school JV coach issue, not a guy with scholarship money to hand out at a D1 school.

Even thoughJoe had a few down years, there is NOTHING to suggest something like this was going to happen. Actually just the opposite appears with facts, Joe wanted to name his own guy (like that guy or not), but he was not draining the system hoping it would fail. A big part of the reason we have so many young kids playing is because Coach Smithran them off, and next year we will be in the same boat.

Coach Smith didn't "run" anyone off. Kids stopped playing due to injury and other kids last year stopped playing because lack of dedication and the will to work hard.

Seems to me that the constantly changing lineup is really hurting this team. The coaching staff is not giving guys a chance to get comfortable. Players seem to be playing tense, afraid that if they aren't immediately successful they will be benched. I've watched 6 games and haven't seen any indication that players are having fun and enjoying their experience. I hear what seems to be "forced" chatter and cheering from the bench but it's evident that they are made to do it. Things need to lighten up quickly or there will probably be a loss of some pretty good prospects.
And you say I'm not a fan?
