Akron has played every day since Wednesday plus twice today. Ball State at least had yesterday off. I don't know how much pitching the Zips will left for tomorrow if they finish off this win.

Ball State scores 4 all with 2 outs in the 9th to win 9-8, the same score they lost the first with. This has been one hell of a day of baseball.

An even more gassed and worse seeded Akron would have been preferred, but either way this has all broke very well for Ohio. With both Geist & Miller available to start, and Cozart with 2 days rest (and the rest of the entire bullpen with 7+ days rest)...We are in really great shape.

After blowing an 8-1 lead in the first game by giving up 8 runs in the 9th to lose 9-8, Ball State wins 9-8 by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th in the second game. Akron had a dropped flyball in left field by a guy who came in for defensive purposes and that loaded the bases and Ball State got a three-run single (runners were moving on a 3-2, 2-out pitch) to tie it. Then a walk and another single to win.

Ball St. returns the favor by scoring 4 with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to beat Akron 9-8.

Ohio with 4 HR's for a 6-1 lead going to bottom of 7. Cozart comes into a bases loaded, one-out jam in the 6th and gets our of it. Now up to 24 consecutive scoreless innings. Amazing.

Does anyone have any clue where we will be heading?

Truly awesome season for Ohio baseball. I would have loved to have seen this go down in Avon but I was out of town elsewhere, proudly wearing the green and white!

The tournament pairings generally are kept pretty regional for baseball. The top 16 teams get to host. Illinois and Michigan are teams that maybe could be in that mix, but who knows.

The Bracket comes out at noon tomorrow, but the 16 host sites were announced: LSU, Illinois, Texas A&M, Miami, Dallas Baptist, TCU, Cal State Fullerton, Florida, Houston, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Missouri State, Oklahoma State, Florida State

Obviously, Illinois and Louisville are the most geographical, maybe Missouri State. I guess it's pretty standard for baseball, but there aren't very many Midwest and no Northeast locations. Pretty much all but a couple in the southern part of the country.

No. 6 national seed it is for Ohio in the first round. The Illini host the regional and the Bobcats are the No. 4 seed in the regional. Game is at 8 p.m. Friday on ESPN3. No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 3 Wright State are the other two teams, and they play at 1 p.m. Friday. The regional round is a simple four-team double-elimination tournament.

Glancing at Illinois' stats, they have seven guys who hit .293 or better and three guys with 8 or more home runs. David Kerian hit .366 with 14 home runs. Pitching, they have a rotation of guys with ERAs of 1.30, 2.17, 2.19 and 3.32 and a main reliever with an ERA of 0.64 in 56 1/3 innings. I see why they are No. 6 nationally.
