Yes, Bobcats easily could have been swept, but after winning Saturday, they really had a chance to win the series. It was there for them on multiple occasions Sunday. Now, they are 2 games back of a tournament spot. Three games are tied for 6-8, so if any one of them struggles, it gives Ohio a shot, but making up two games with six to go won't be easy. This weekend's opponent, Western Michigan, is one of those teams, though. Sweeping would put Ohio into playoff position. Winning two of three would keep it in contention, putting the Bobcats a game back of the Broncos with a tiebreaker advantage. Ohio simply can't lose the series and still have a chance. WMU's pitching in MAC games has been awful with an ERA of almost 8. The Broncos are No. 2 in average in MAC play, though they have no power (only 3 HRs) and draw few walks.

I bet Ohio walks a minimum of 10 batters this weekend. Why should this series be any different than any other?

Officially eliminated today. What a sad way to follow up last season.

For what it's worth, Ohio won today. It puts the Bobcats three back of Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan and Central Michigan, who all are tied for fifth through eighth in the MAC. If Ohio won out and one of those teams lost out, they'd be tied. Ohio lost series to WMU and CMU but didn't play Toledo or Eastern Michigan. I'm not sure what the tiebreaker criteria would be if Ohio happened to tie Toledo or EMU for the last spot. There's almost no chance Ohio will sweep Miami anyway or that those teams get swept.

Starting pitching just wasn't good enough this year. The three main starters from a year ago all seemed to regress this season. The offense had some good and bad. But I guess that's baseball. Even a 24-game league schedule is a pretty small sample. The Bobcats generally were better in non-league games but just didn't have it in league games.

Barely even snuck one out. To quote Harry Doyle, we had one GD hit Friday. Left 18 on base yesterday...18! I don't think anyone on this team would disagree this has been a very disappointing season. I know they have it in them so I hope they can just find a way to sneak into the tourney and go from there.
I believe we were officially eliminated yesterday from the tournament. Both Cenral and Western hold tie breakers over us, and bothe have 3 game leads with 3 to play.

Yup, I think we are done. Got smacked in the mouth in the first 2 at WMU. Very disappointing season all around.
