3-1 on the weekend. Pitching was improved from last year. This past weekend the BB/K ration was 16/45. Seemed like last year the staff gave up too many walks and couldn't keep them from crossing the plate. Good start to the season.

I thought we had a revelation thru 2 games when returning middle reliever Michael Klein went 6 for 8 with 2 homers as DH the first 2 games. Unfortunately the next 2 saw him go 0 for 8, but he did start a gem yesterday.

Agree on it being a good opening weekend especially on the pitching side. We have a ton of hitting to replace.

The Bobcats blew out LaSalle 10-2 and 14-5, got blown out 15-4 by Butler and then beat Butler 4-0. Like everyone said, all in all, good results.

Lots of pitchers (15 over the four games) got a shot. Almost all of them were good. 45 strikeouts in 35 innings. Little bit of the same on offense. 14 different guys started at least one game.

Bobcats have a four-game series this weekend against SIU Edwardsville in Georgia. Then Tuesday against Alabama State in the same location.

Ohio split with SIU Edwardsville. Not much offense, pretty good pitching. Lost 2-1 Friday, won 6-4 and lost 7-4 Saturday and won 2-1 today.

Lots of close games. I am not surprised by the lack of offense, one could argue we lost the top 3 hitters from a year ago in Longo, Dejesus & Gaertner. Pitching has been very pleasant...getting lots of Ks! Then again the old adage is the pitchers are ahead of the hitters early on.

BB/K ratio is certainly one reason for their success so far. Just need to get the bats going.

Rough game today against Alabama State. 12-6 loss, 10 run third inning for ASU put the game away early.

I'm still trying to figure out why they are down south all week when next week is spring break and they do not play. Missing a lot of classes when they do not need to.

They lost 12-6 to Alabama State yesterday. So much for the pitching being great to this point.

Did the team return home after the game? They don't play again until Friday at Western Kentucky. I don't know how much class time that would allow or if it would be even worth it.

Many schools are on spring break this week, so that could be part of the trouble in scheduling games for next week instead, though I'm sure there had to be some options.

The point is you do not schedule a complete week trip down south when you are in session and then SIT at home the week you are totally free. And there are a lot of schools on spring break for the next month, enough that you will find plenty of game opportunities. Now, travel for both weeks, ok, sounds great!!! But to travel all week and play then sit at home while you are on break is just silly IMO

Everyone here knows that scheduling games requires coordination and agreement with another party, right?

I'm happy with the pitching so far. Three (really 2) of nine games the pitching has been off but for this early in the season it is a good sign.

Agree with BTC, this seems strange, since it's obvious that there were options available as a lot of schools not in Ohio do not have the Fake Semester System and have spring breaks at other times.

Key to terms:

Real Semester System runs 16 weeks with finals.
Fake Semester System runs 14 weeks with finals.

Liars who developed Fake Semester system claim that there is the same amount of instruction because each classroom session is extended an extra number of minutes so that the "time in class" is the same as on real semesters. Everyone, including the janitor, knows that this isn't true, but apparently the General Assembly has yet to catch on. Once they do, expect higher education funding to take another dive. This is bait and switch at its finest.

Yep, that it is, a total sham of tax dollars and tuition monies.

and there will literally be a hundred college teams down south every week for the next 3-4 weeks.

This could be a record, BTC. We agree on two things in the same post. ;-)

Great pitching this weekend. A 5-4 loss followed by a pair of 3-0 wins against Western Kentucky. Bobcats are 7-5.

Also of note, Michael Klein got the win today. He has a 0.64 ERA in 14 innings and is leading the team with a .326 average, three home runs and eight runs scored.

Bats are a little quite but pitching has been very nice. This team could be fun to watch this season.
