For some reason, the standings don't show Ohio's wins this weekend (but do show Eastern Michigan's losses and seem to be otherwise to date). I believe Ohio is tied with Northern Illinois for fifth at 8-7 in the MAC and just percentage points behind this weekend's opponent Kent State, who is 7-6. Western Michigan is 6-7. It would be big to win this series, especially with series against the top two teams coming up after this.

I noticed that too UpSan...it has to be related to the fact that the MAC website doesn't have anything on Ohio's schedule beyond 4/13. Real professional.

Next 6 at home, got a real shot to get near the top of the standings. Final 6 are tough on the road at Miami & WMU.

Arguably the toughest part of the entire schedule to close out the year starts Friday. Kent looks to be having a down year but always has a talented rotation and loaded bullpen. Miami is having one of their best seasons in a long time. Close out the year with the long trip to Kalamazoo.

We might need to win 2 out of the last 3 series to secure a top 6 spot. Cannot get swept by Miami. It would be huuuuuge if they can sneak out Friday's game against Kent.

Ohio avoided a sweep by winning the finale against Kent State 1-0 behind an awesome outing by Kenny Ogg. Lost the opener 12-3 and the second game 18-11 (despite an early 7-2 lead). Puts the Bobcats at .500 in the MAC and in sixth place, with Western Michigan at 6-10 in seventh place, so the Bobcats are 2 games up on the final tournament spot. It'd be nice to win enough against good competition the next two weeks to not put a ton of pressure on the final series against Western Michigan but chances are still strong it will come down to that.

It is looking like the final series at WMU could shape up to be a 1st round of the tourney of sorts.

Bobcats got a split with Miami, losing 5-1 and winning 4-3. The finale was rained out. Bobcats are a half-game up on Western Michigan for the final tournament spot (and a half-game behind Northern Illinois) with two series remaining. Big challenge this weekend with Ball State coming to town. Western also has a tough series, going to Miami. It would be nice to add a game to the lead on Western, which would make it so Ohio only would have to win one in the final series against the Broncos.

Ohio got swept by Ball State. Didn't matter too much. Western Michigan won just once, which puts them a half game up on Ohio, which leaves the same situation for the final weekend as has been expected for a while. Whoever wins the series between the Broncos and Bobcats this weekend gets into the MAC Tournament.
