What's our all-time record against USC? I know we beat them once in the CWS in 1970. Have we played them since?

Do not believe we have played them since. Very very rare for Ohio Baseball to go west of the Mississippi. I only go back 30 years of Ohio baseball though and the record book is not that well kept in regards to all time w-L with opponents.

OK. Thanks. I was just curious.

Not many positives to pull from a 1-6 start other than these non conference games mean nothing and are glorified scrimmages. Obviously I'd like to be winning a decent share of these games but no need to panic yet.

Offensively, we have wayyyy too many strikeouts. We're striking out at a 31% rate almost 1 out of every 3 outs is by strikeout and almost 11 strikeouts per game. To compare, our opponents have 12 less at bats and have 26 less strikeouts than us. This needs to improve.

Well this sucks. I knew the lineup wasn't gonna be terribly deep but can't imagine it will struggle this bad much longer. Hate to play the "northern school disadvantage" card but hitting is all about rhythm and feel and I don't think our guys have hit their stride yet.

Right now our guys have hit little of anything, including their stride ;-)

yeah, somehow CMU is off to a great start. It's definitely early but dropping all 4 to a Division 1 newbie is not a good sign.

Cal Baptist is no joke. Aside from their 9-0 record (sweeping NIU, us, and a win against Kansas St.), they have a roster full of talent. Transfers from Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbra, San Diego St, and a couple other legit mid-majors. Jumping to D1 probably also attracted some top high school talent that didn't get offers from the traditional SoCal schools.
