Drafted by the Indians in the 14th round. Pretty cool.

Cool but I was kind of hoping his stock fell a bit more. I am hoping he comes back for a senior season and banks on himself to progress a bit more than he did this past year. But as a 14th rounder, I am guesses he comes to an agreement with the Tribe.

He probably was looking like a higher pick before this season, not that it was a bad year by any means. The home run power disappeared for some reason, though. If he came back and showed that again, he probably would be drafted higher, but I agree, it probably wouldn't make enough of a difference for him to really benefit that much.

Top 10 rounds fare much better in the bonus money, after round 10 I believe you are limited to a cap of 100k on bonus money. Nice decision this young man has to make. Go Cats.

Congrats to Mitch, I will keep my eyes peeled to his career from here on out.

That said....damn. We sure could've used him in 2017.

Mitch got it going pretty quickly at Rookie ball and played in 4 games in a row. He did not do well (.125 OBP in 15 at bats) but any player can have those results in just 4 games. Then he has not played since, 2 weeks gone by. Not sure if there was an injury or what.

He's started to hit well after the slow start. His average is up to .273. 8 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 12 RBIs in 99 ABs. His average was .220 on Aug. 4 and he got it as high as .284 a few days ago.

Might he get called up when the roster limit increases to 40? That's a pretty impressive batting average.

Billy is spot on. Maybe, and it's a big maybe, Mitch might end up in the AZ Fall League, where prospects who are thought to have potential get additional work. I don't think rosters have been announced, but I could be wrong. Otherwise, the next step for Mitch would be moving up to the full season Low-A club at Lake County next spring...

Some spots were announced last week, but I do not believe all were filled as of yet.

Getting called up to the Majors in the same year the player was drafted is extremely rare. There have only been about 20 such players in the past 35 years, and most of them are usually relief pitchers. As much as I love Mitch, he of course doesn't sniff this level. As a 14th round pick, the absolute best case scenario for him getting a cup of tea in the majors would be the 2018 season, I would think.

A very good average for Mitch in his first season, but he will really need to develop his power to advance. I was hoping to see that during his last season at Ohio and it didn't really happen but a few slight adjustments could change that.

Mitch will participate in the Indians' Fall Development program, which begins in Cleveland on Sept. 25 and will move to Goodyear AZ one week later for three more weeks. This is an intra-organization program involving classroom, conditioning and skill development work. It is not to be confused with the Arizona Fall League, in which teams from different organizations play against each other.

Mitch will start the season on the DL after having surgery to repair a broken bone in one hand.

Hitting 392 for the Indians Class A Lake Erie Captains. Hit his first and second homers in last nights game.
He has been very hot!

Bartender at the local sportspub has boyfriend who is a Midwest League ump. He had an off day last week and was in town visiting. He saw Longo in Ft. Wayne two weeks ago, said he was one of most impressive kids he'd seen this year. Knows the strike zone. Makes great contact, even outs were hard hit. Surprising speed. He saw him hit two long ones, so obviously he had no questions about his power.

Several multi hit games recently. Playing well and hitting in the 3rd spot as RF or DH. Is it possible he moves up this season? Would that be the Carolina "A" league or the AA Akron Aeros?

His next stop would be with Lynchburg in the Carolina League. Although there is only a month remaining, given that he is a college bat I wouldn't be surprised if he is moved up to high A here soon. Ideally they would make that move and he would do well enough to convince them to start him out at AA next year. But also possible they let him ride it out in low A and start next season in high A.
