The Bobcats opened with a 2-1 win and then lost three straight. They were able to pull off the first one because Joe Rock threw another gem (2 hits, 8 Ks in 6 IP) and the bullpen innings of Kutt and Manis closed it out. Two runs in the seventh were enough to win it. Ohio scored exactly two runs in the first three games and then lost the finale 11-5.

Ohio is now 11-11 overall and 5-7 in the MAC after splitting with Toledo. Bobcats won the first two 13-2 and 11-6 and lost close ones 6-5 and 7-6. A very winnable series against Eastern Michigan coming up.

Joe Rock continues to be incredible. 0.95 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 38 innings. Kutt and Manis have been good out of the bullpen, though Manis took a loss in one of the Toledo games. The rest of the pitching hasn't been great.

Ohio's offense has picked it up since early in the year. Peterson is hitting .346 with 4 HRs. Harbert has 5 HRs and a .291 average. Witwer-Dukes is at .339 and Hafner at .327. Unfortunately, there's also a number of sub-.200 averages.

Bobcats with the sweep of Eastern Michigan. Wins of 6-3, 4-3 in 9 innings (2 extra because of doubleheader), 2-1 in 10 innings (3 extra) and 3-2. Ohio was trailing or tied late in all four and pulled it out, including a pair of walk-off wins. Pitching was very good against a very bad hitting team, but the Eagles have good pitching, and the Bobcats did enough.

It was the Bobcats' first four-game MAC sweep since 2002 (There were only three-game series for a big chunk of that time). Ohio is now 15-11 overall and 9-7 in the MAC. Northern Illinois is up next this weekend at Bob Wren Stadium, another series Ohio should win. The Huskies are 5-20.

Seeing all the tremendous games under good weather this past weekend makes me bring up the question again. Anyone know what the status is of fan attendance at the games? Are they just sticking to no fans to round out the academic year and if so is that the MAC dictating that?

Scored +6 in a four game sweep. That some seriously good “run budgeting”.
